Nurses face losing their homes after court rules they must pay up to £150,000 EACH in parking fines run up at the 17 July 2017 GMT Corporate Crime, UK News
‘Nurses and doctors have been ordered to pay £12.8million in fines for parking at the NHS hospital where they work.
Staff at University Hospital of Wales face having to sell their homes after losing a legal fight over the unpaid tickets.
One nurse owes £150,000 in outstanding fines after a court ruled £128 must be paid for every unpaid ticket, plus £26,000 in court fees, The Sun reported.
More than 100,000 unpaid tickets have been racked up, meaning staff owe £12.8million to car park owners Indigo.
The hospital has 6,000 staff but the car park has only 1,800 spaces, so many have to park in spots reserved for visitors. Staff, some of whom earn just £15,100, decided they would veto payment of any fines in protest at the lack of spaces.’

after a quick search, it does not seem like fake news

if there is any fake news here is that all the fines will be cancelled... meanwhile it keep people's mind distracted. Goal accomplished.
Judges could be paid under the rug to drag these issues as long as possible. Controlling perceptions is everything. One way or another, I hope many brits will see here a wake up call

When someone starts spewing about "free market solutions," this is what they mean.

On Friday, a judge at Cardiff Civil Justice Centre ruled private company Indigo could collect the charges from University Hospital of Wales staff.
(...)
She said staff had permits which allowed them to park in designated areas for £1.05 a day, but a lack of spaces meant staff had been forced to park in unauthorised areas.
Capitalist crooks at Indigo charge them monies for a "product" (parking space) they fail to provide, then demand more (outrageous) fees when the "customers" do what is necessary.

since I read that asset forfeiture in america by law enforcement surpasses the amount of real theft, nothing will surprise me anymore, I am just wondering about how far they will go.
But it is possible that this UK parking case may never go much father than that and that the judge may reverse the verdict, or another judicial appointee may step in and clear the whole affair. .

People shouldn't have to pay to park where they work at all. I am sure a few years ago (at the most 30), the hospitals car parking was managed by the hospital, but recently it was privatized to this vitiligo company, who decided to raise the fees, have staff to pay for parking, while not providing enough space for them. A nurse owing £150,000 for parking at her work, which surely must amount to at least 4 years salary after taxes, probably 5-6 actually, is beyond ridiculous. It is a clear case of usury, and the person(s) responsible should be jailed, and that includes hospital administrators deciding to sell out the parking to privateers.
