Sen. Thom Tillis on Sunday defended his bill to protect special counsel Robert Mueller and made clear the measure was to protect Mueller from being fired by President Trump in his investigation into whether the president or his campaign colluded with Russia to influence the outcome of the 2016 White House race.

“There's no question that it is,” Tills, R-N.C., told “Fox News Sunday.”

Tillis pointing out that the bipartisan measure was introduced last week but would retroactively take effect May 17, when Mueller was appointed by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to investigate allegations about Russian meddling and Trump campaign collusion.

Mueller was appointed after Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from the probe, which angered Trump and sparked speculations that he would fire Mueller and/or Sessions.

The bill was crafted with Sen. Chris Coons, D-Del., and would allow a Justice Department special counsel to make a legal challenge to a dismissal that would be reviewed by a three-judge panel.

Still, Tillis made clear the measure goes beyond Trump and Mueller.

“This is about the Department of Justice,” the first-term senator said. “This is about my confidence in the attorney general and my confidence in a Department of Justice to move forward in an appropriate manor. … We don't want to restrict the administration’s authority or the Department of Justice from removing a counsel. We just want to make sure to the American people they can be convinced it was done for the right reasons.”

The bill has yet to receive a date for a committee hearing or vote, but has a good chance of passing in the Senate because of its bipartisan support.

Not a shred of real evidence....not a single shred!! The Deep State is controlling these 'politicians' to take out Trump using the powers of law on fabricated and/or ignored evidence! The stupid American people will accept it and the transition to a one world government will proceed again!

What I don't understand is: Comey testified that his purpose in leaking to his journalist friend was in hopes of having a Special Prosecutor appointed. Amazingly, it worked! Now Comey pal Mueller has assembled a bunch of anti-Trump lawyers and they are expanding the "investigation" to include a ton of stuff having nothing to do with Russia or the election.

My question is...WTF? Comey breaks a serious law hoping to trigger a witch hunt and everybody lets him get away with it? Congress even passes a law saying Trump has to sit still for it?
