When it comes to electronic tech , most major advances has been driven by undeclared and or declared war or national conflict, then will advance, the space race is a great advance. ICBM's developed to kill each other, remove the warhead and put a man in a can on the very tip..

We started with rocks and clubs whacking each other and looking for a better way to kill ourselves evolved. Not all but a huge bunch, humans are smart overall and and all tech will evolve as sumone thinks of a better way to do things.

But it does seem historically that most major leaps happen during conflict at least the working seed then mostly making a buck takes over and the masses (people in general) get the benefit or curse.

In some ways I miss the days of low tech, no cell phones or internet etc, etc..Life then in many ways was better, slower and more enjoyable.
