(Natural News) Hip replacement parts are often made with cobalt, a toxic heavy metal. Doctors are now concerned that cobalt poisoning is causing Alzheimer’s among hip replacement recipients.

As reported by the UK Daily Mail:

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency announced last month that patients would be called in for x-rays and blood tests to check for adverse reactions.

Dr Neil McGuire, clinical director of medical devices at the MHRA, said he wanted to establish whether cobalt leached from the implants was causing adverse effects.

It’s the latest evidence that medical interventions that involve heavy metals may be having profound negative disease effects on patients. In addition to cobalt in hip replacements, flu shots given to children and expectant mothers in the United States are still deliberately formulated with mercury, a potent neurotoxin and brain damaging heavy metal.

Fresh warning over toxic metal hip replacements... now doctors claim they could cause Alzheimer's
10 July 2017
There are concerns that the devices are leaching toxic chemicals into the blood
MHRA said last month patients would be called in to check for adverse reactions
Now a spokesman said it was also keeping an eye on a possible link to dementia

Up to 56,000 patients in the UK have had the controversial metal replacements which have been linked to muscle and bone damage as well as problems with the nervous system.

Once revolutionary

The devices were hailed as revolutionary when they first appeared on the market in the early 1990s.

But last year lawyers announced that a total of 500 patients were suing one of the leading manufacturers DePuy after suffering severe complications.

Some are in constant pain whilst others have been left housebound after the implants damaged the muscles and nerves surrounding the hip.

Complications are thought to arise when tiny particles of cobalt and chromium within the metal break off and leach into the blood

Why they hell would they use a rare earth metal like Cobalt when Titanium could be used without the heavy metal poisoning?

They do use titanium. My deceased wife had a titanium prosthesis like the one in this x-ray.

This particular manufacturer thought it was a great idea to use Cobalt.....

sorry about your wife but it seems that just more than 1 manufacturer uses/d cobalt

Cobalt and Hip Replacements

Cobalt is an important alloy in metal hip replacements. Cobalt was chosen for use in hip replacements because it is extremely resistant to wear and corrosion. When the metal-on-metal hip replacements were designed, they were intended to be used in active, younger hip implant recipients. Now, there is growing evidence that the metal-on-metal design has a higher risk of 5-year failure than ceramic or plastic designs. European experts are now calling for a ban of these devices, and some health authorities are recommending that all people who have these devices undergo blood tests. In America, the FDA has not yet made a recommendation. Hundreds of thousands of Americans have been implanted with these devices, and the FDA approved them without requiring the manufacturers to submit safety data.

When a metal hip replacement is manufactured, cobalt is blended with chromium and tungsten carbide. In recent years, the use of cobalt-chromium hip replacements has risen dramatically. In 2010, approximately 35% of all hip replacements were a cobalt-chromium design.

I know a man who had THR surgery and had to have surgery done over again in short period of time. Not sure exactly what kind of prosthesis or what his rejection symptoms were.

https://bonesmart.org/hip/choosing-a-hip-implant-prosthesis/

Apparently several companies offer more than one kind of prosthesis and some models are made with Cobalt and have been for many years.

The article above is total B S ( B S = Bad Science )
says it is your doctor's choice as what prosthesis he chooses for you. You get to ask him questions but does not look like you are supposed to ask intelligent questions like what kind of metal the one you are going to get is made of or ask in those "rare cases" of rejection, how many or what percentage involve cobalt or the most indicted metal and see if yours contains that metal. This is the doctor-pushed flu vaccine shtick on steroids.

The article propagandizes that you would be wise to let your surgeon choose the right appliance for you because that is the kind he is comfortable using and has the most experience with and you want your surgeon to feel comfortable in surgery. I would say the surgeon is on the take under the operating table from the prosthesis manufacturer he prescribes for his patient.

For every patient who has to have their hip replacement done over again because of rejection, I would say their ought to be a malpractice lawsuit against the surgeon and possibly a class action law suit against the makers of the offending appliance for the last several years. That ought to make doctors much more careful in what to choose and what to avoid for their patients.

The doctors need to be held responsible for just taking the B S words of BigPharma and BigMedical Manufacturers as their detail men and women shower them with lots of goodies, trips and perks. It's called product placement and it is freakin evil when it comes to this serious life threatening medical matter.
