Actually, you are totally off the rocker with your remark. Hebrew was a dead language (as in no-one spoke it) for a couple of millennia until the zionists decided to "revive" it, the problem is that they had no idea how it sounded like, even though they had managed to decipher it. Instead they got inspired by the pronounciation of Jiddish (a Khazar/Slavic/German amalgamation), and some regional middle eastern languages (Arabic/Aramaic).

In conclusion Modern Hebrew is NOT the same language as spoken during Biblical Hebrew times, but I guess one could argue that due to it being an essentially dead language for 2000 years it didn't evolve during that period like other languages do.
