White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said today that indictments (http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/10/30/paul-manafort-rick-gates-indicted-by-federal-grand-jury-in-russia-probe.html) handed down by special counsel Robert Mueller have "nothing to do" with President Trump or his campaign.

Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and his associate Rick Gates were indicted by a federal grand jury Monday on 12 counts, including conspiracy against the United States, conspiracy to launder money, unregistered agent of a foreign principal, false and misleading Foreign Agent Registration (FARA) statements, false statements and seven counts of failure to file reports of foreign banks and financial accounts.

Both pleaded not guilty to the charges Monday afternoon.

Also announced by Mueller was a guilty plea by George Papadopolous, a former Trump campaign foreign policy adviser, to making false statements to FBI agents.

According to court documents, Papadopolous' false statements to the FBI concerned his contact with a professor with connections to the Russian government about "thousands of emails" that could damage Hillary Clinton.

Sanders downplayed Papadopolous' role within the campaign, saying the indictment is over his "failure to tell the truth," not campaign activities.
"This individual was a member of a volunteer council that met one time," she said of Papadopolous, adding nothing in today's indictments is "evidence of Trump-Russia collusion."

She said Papadopolous "reached out" to other campaign officials but no meeting ever occurred.

Sanders said there is "no intention or plan" by the president to fire or remove Mueller from the investigation. She said the White House still expects Mueller's investigation to end "soon."

She reiterated that the "real collusion scandal" involves the Clinton campaign, Fusion GPS and Russia working to "smear" Trump.

Watch her answers above.

Brother of Clinton campaign chair steps down from lobbying firm amid reports of scrutiny from special counsel
Tony Podesta, founder of the Podesta Group and brother of former Hillary Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta, is resigning from his lobbying company.

Podesta and his lobbying firm were subjects of a federal investigation led by Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

The Podesta Group was one of several firms that worked on a campaign called the European Centre for a Modern Ukraine. The campaign was led by Paul Manafort and promoted Ukraine’s image in the West.

Manafort, who served as President Trump's campaign manager for a period last summer, was indicted Friday by Mueller's team for several charges dating back to his work in Ukraine.

According to Politico, which first reported the story, Podesta will be handing over full operational and financial control to the company’s CEO Kimberly Fritts.

In an email to his staff, Podesta reportedly said he was stepping down because he "needs to fight this as an individual, but doesn't want the firm to fight it," a person familiar with the farewell speech said.

Dubbed on of DC’s “50 heavy lifters” by the Financial Times and one of “Washington’s biggest players” by The New York Times, Podesta turned his once-modest lobbying firm into a heavy hitter.

But in the wake of the Mueller investigation the Podesta Group has struggled. About a half dozen of its clients have cut ties with the firm this year. The firm brought in an estimated $4.8 million in the third quarter of 2017, down from $6.1 million in the third quarter of 2016.

Distraction...but from and for what?

Illusion of power balance between democrats and republicans... Democrats were caught with their hands in the cookie jar, and they don't want them to look too bad in relation to Republicans, so they throw some shit their way too?
