Quick call Al Gore for a rescue mission.

Observers reported snow falling in parts of Boerne and San Antonio during the early evening hours. The National Weather Service’s Austin-San Antonio office received reports of a mixture of rain and snow falling near Canyon Lake in Comal County, along with sleet and rain on the west side of New Braunfels. Sleet also was reported near Del Rio.

Texas Department of Transportation spokeswoman Laura Lopez urged caution to those who still have to drive to work in the morning.

“We’re not used to having this kind of weather during a winter season,” Lopez said. “We want to remind people that if you’re going to be traveling, check those traffic conditions before heading out on the road.”

“Snowfall is a rare occurrence in the winter time,” Platt said. “If you don’t have to get out and drive, then don’t.”
