The Navy will grant a clean slate to nearly 50,000 sailors with fitness failures in their records, part of new shakeup for fleet-wide fitness rules announced Thursday.

A new Navy-wide message instructs commands to immediately stop discharging sailors for fitness failures and to cancel any pending discharges for sailors slated to be kicked out after March 31. The change applies to both enlisted and officers.

I remember when I was in the Navy you were basically laughed at for not making it because of how easy it was. Do some push ups, sit ups depending on your age depending the distance you ran.

Hell even fat ass chief petty officers when I was in would start training for fitness qualifications like a month or 2 before they were required. Is that how lazy they are now that they can't even do that and instead want a fucking amnesty for being overweight and out of shape?

You need half the men if they weigh twice as much!!! Half the men mean half the pay, half the rations, half the medical attention, half the supervision.

In this case more would be less. A glass half full but containing the same volume.

In peacetime, perhaps. In wartime, you need bodies to storm the beachheads. It doesn't matter how out of shape or how much you weigh, when the bullets come at you...adrenaline works wonders. You do lose more guys to the enemy that way, but I don't think that matters to .gov. Anything breathing can be sent into harms way at this point.

They don't put fat people on subs, so these 48,000 will be great candidates for the surface ships in the Sea of Japan.
