Mexico is a federation of independent states. I doubt if California was ever one of them. I suppose their current constitution could be checked but I don't have the inclination to put in the effort. Mexico is a shithole. That is not to say that the independent states that form it are shitholes.

In addition, no federation has ever been a sovereign entity.

'Cause that would leave our northern border open to invasion from Canada. 90% of Canadians are already staged within 50 miles of the U.S. border. This is not the case in Mexico.
