LOL, "amazingly, this is legal in south africa." Franks, we (company I worked for) sold most of our production of security systems, (NX-8, 6 and 4 zone) to south Africa for several years, best customer. Then we finally got EU blessings. All of this before GE bought us out. (hate the meatball and co.) (long story) Would not be susprized , our systems number in the 100,000's of installed in that country near the end. (Box, panel, battery and keypad in the basic kit) Along with our glass break detectors, which i still feel were the best on the planet at the time, not to false trigger. Krap, mind boggling of the number of main panels and keypads produced every month. total? easy 15 to easy 20 thousand mixed total and probably more per month
Google: Caddx Caddy Controls/interlogix or GE security. (Nx series) alarm panels.
Or gust google Nx-8 and then run with it.
;D
For dam near 14 years I ran and repaired the machines that produced those boards.
Nod to the OP, the European heritage people were scared shit less, in south africa. Tho good sales for us. ( late 1990s to early 2000s)

It should be “legal” anywhere, and if you blast someone who isn’t attacking you, you should be held responsible.

That doesn't really help the innocent person who accidentally got blasted...they are just gone now. There's too big of a drunken "oops" factor, for these things to be available to the stupid people we have here.
Also, it puts your car in danger of being a big bomb if you get into a car accident. Funny idea, but no way would I drive around with that thing underneath my vehicle.

I have a .44 in my car at all time. That said. With no dindu nuffins in my town i prolly will never use it in self defence.

Hmmm, yes, you do have a few good points there... A scorned woman for instance would have no problem using this, and then she could just claim in court she had PMS.

I love that they use a P38 to demonstrate the attacker's weapon! They appreciate history!
