GAITHERSBURG, Md. — The National Institute of Standards and Technology has invited organizations to participate in their upcoming ‘Indoor GPS’ testing.
Participants in the Localization and Tracking System (LTS) Testing Consortium will have the chance to test their LTS on the NIST campus in Gaithersburg, Md., according to an NIST press release. The goals of the LTS Testing Consortium are to demonstrate and further develop standardized localization and tracking system testing procedures.
Such systems may one day be used to strengthen the ability to locate building occupants and first responders during fires and other emergencies.
The selected participants will be able to test their system across five large buildings with more than 1,000 precisely surveyed control points. Letters of interest for participation is currently being accepted until January 31, 2018.
Actual testing is expected to occur in April or May 2018.
