"Two elementary school principals at a Texas school district were arrested within a week of each other for failing to report cases of sexual abuse to law enforcement.

Cindy Sue Underwood, 35, the principal of Kate Haynes Northwest Academy was booked into the Wichita County jail on Monday and released soon after.

Kory Fancher Dorman, 45, the principal of Crocket Elementary school was arrested last week.

Both educators were charged with failing to report separate and unrelated incidents of sexual abuse concerning students in their care. SNIP"

If you read this article, the nicest thought you could have is...

GOOD GRIEF !!!!

Looks like public elementary schools are operating like Catholic Church priest pederasty cover-up.

Also would say those two principles look like they should have remained in jail with no bond.

Sexual behavior by and upon 7. 8, 9 year olds must be more prevalent than I thought.

I worked in an emergency room summers while in college and saw a 9 year old black male be diagnosed with gonorrhea.

Yeah, we need law enforcement to jump in here. Three 7 years olds are criminal degenerates and should be tried and hanged for their gross sexual misconduct!

Seriously, back in the day these teachers would do exact what the did and this sort of thing was handled at home by the parents. Kids are kids. They are always exploring . It's life man!!! These are children we're talking about! They'll stray in a bad direction sometimes and they need guidance! Of course today, parents aren't what they used to be. Today's parent would rather support a system who blames others for their ineptitude as parents rather than simply take their responsibilities as a parent seriously and do their job!

" Of course today, parents aren't what they used to be."

parents are not what they used to be

students are not what they used to be

teachers are not what they used to be

principles are not what they used to be

There is much going on in this situation that we are not told about.

It is good that the schools' failure to deal definitively and promptly with these incidents was exposed. I do not know or care who raised hell and made this hit the media. It needed to be exposed for the protection of the other children in these schools.

Teachers are a close-knit group and they tend to protect each other so probably this non-reporting by teachers and principles was well known for some time and only this way of exposing this situation was an option.

Public schools probably do not bear close inspection -- anywhere.

Not much better for private schools.

"They told the parents, did they not?"

Not sure who you mean by "they".

OK

I reread the article, which was very imprecisely written and left out much information.

"The teacher informed Underwood of the findings. She told the parents, but did not alert law enforcement."

In this first case involving the three boys and using iPad to take pictures of their activities.

(We have not been told about the exact activities , whether they involved girl children or other boys or both and whether all were voluntary participants or were some forced to participate.)

So the TEACHER told the principle Underwood and I guess it was Underwood who told the parents of the three boys as well as the victims or other participants in the activies.

The principle Underwood did not report this to law enforcement as the law requires.

I guess there is an order to the telling and reporting.
The parents are told first by the Principle and
then the law enforcement is formally informed.
I can see where some parents might not want the incident formally reported to law enforcement, but the principle is obligated by law to report it.

The three boys involved should be expelled or put in special school for miscreant students and never be allowed in regular school again.
the parents of the three boy main actors may not care what their children are doing and may not care if their children are reported to law enforcement. Or the parents may just acknowledge that they cannot control their children and they cannot afford an attorney to help keep their children out of reform school.

If there are victims, or coerced participant children, those parents may not want their child's name besmirched by being formally reported to the police, but that is wrong of the parents. Those parents should want full strong justice to be done for the sake of all the other children in the school. Full swift justice needs to be meted out.

_____

The second incident where a child was assaulted in the rest room by another child is much more overall negligent appearing.

Principal Dorman was totally responsible to tell the parents and was required by law to report it to law enforcement. She did neither.

Three grandparents notified Dorman, not the teacher.

Do not know how the three grandparents were notified of what happened to the child but it does not appear they were told by the teacher or the principle Dorman.

I can see why these three grandparents may have reported this directly to police and had Dorman arrested, but maybe they reported it to Dorman and then Dorman reluctantly then reported it to police several days later. I would hope that the grandparents have attorneys to get full retribution and justice on this case. The parents or guardians of all the other children in the school ought to be behind these grandparents in seeking justice.

The fact that these heinous acts could happen in a school tells you a lot about the school and the school system. I do not think Wichita Falls, Texas, public elementary schools are much different than other schools anywhere in the nation.

close family member is public skool teacher. the whole thing is set up to keep the violent, the disgusting, the criminal IN CLASS. it is bloody hell to get these 'students' removed. the safety of the other students, DOES NOT MATTER. it is maddening the stories I hear.

and if the offender has a special designation (of any variety)....you are talking next to impossible. also, the skoolz, BY LAW (fedgov) cannot even tell the other parents that a violent/deviant criminal is sitting in class with their kids. dept of edu has set the whole game up to protect the criminal and to harm the innocent
