"In the days following the tragic shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, videos and images surfaced on social media that showed a Lamborghini with Broward County Sheriffs decals on the car which led to many claiming the embattled sheriff's office had purchased the car.

Did Broward County Sheriff's Office purchase the Lamborghini? No.

Multiple right-leaning and centrist accounts on Twitter pushed the debunked claim that the Broward County Sheriff's Office had purchased the vehicle and was, therefore, an example of the failing leadership of Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel.

The claim is simply not true.

The Broward Palm Beach New Times reported in 2014 that the Lamborghini "was on loan from the Prestige Imports of Miami for the Toys in the Sun run and that it had been wrapped at no cost to the department."

In an email to The Daily Wire, Broward County Sheriff's Public Information Officer Joy Oglesby said the use of the car didn't "cost the Broward Sheriff’s Office any money since a local dealership loans the car, and the temporary wrap is installed and removed at no cost to BSO."

The car was used to benefit the charity U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots, Oglesby added.

There are many reasons to criticize Sheriff Israel for his actions and inaction surrounding the Parkland shooting, but to spread information without first verifying whether it is true only detracts from legitimate arguments and criticisms that need to be made. " end of article

"The claim is simply not true."

I call Strawman fallacy.

The claim was never that " Broward County Sheriff's Office purchased the Lamborghini."

What remains apparently true is that Sheriff Israel has enough personal
resources to obtain a Lamborghini and to flaunt his Lamborghini to the public in a parade in the
flippant outrageous way by putting official looking sheriff's car
wrapping on his car. Sheriff Israel deliberately set up the Lamborghini hoax so
that he could then show the believing public to be conspiracy theorists, that is, to have a strawman claim that no one ever claimed and then have that strawman claim proven untrue, and which provided himself with the ticket to call people who ask questions about him and his performance as Sheriff at the Parkland event and who question the official story of the event as "conspiracy theorists" or right wing nutjobs or worse.

We know who "loaned" the vehicle and we know for what ostensible good cause the vehicle was loaned (Prestige Imports of Miami for the Toys in the Sun run ) but we are carefully not told who the vehicle was "loaned" TO, nor are we told if Israel is now in possession of the vehicle and driving it as his personal vehicle.

More crafty manipulation by this guy who may be closely related to the father of lies.
