A former Houston 911 operator who hung up on thousands of people including calls for help during robberies and homicides will spend 10 days in jail and 18 months on probation.
Harris County jurors on Wednesday found Crenshanda Williams, 44, guilty of interference with emergency telephone calls.
Williams spent a year and a half taking 911 calls at the Houston Emergency Center until she was caught in August 2016 and fired by the city. A supervisor who oversaw Williams was ultimately also placed on a year of internal probation, officials said at the time.
Williams’ misdeeds came to light after HEC officials performing routine monthly audits of 911 calls noticed a high volume of Williams’ calls lasted less than 20 seconds, known as “short calls.” In a news release detailing the sentencing, prosecutors said that a review of call records showed Williams hung up on “thousands” of short calls.

18 months - 2 years is typically the amount of time anyone in government realizes that there's a problem.
After another 2 years probation it is only 1 year until pension is available.

On September 28, 2014, Jordan was sitting inches away from Jalen Robinson when the latter was shot in the back of his head after a reported shouting match between friends. Robinson survived but suffered severe brain injuries.
His friend, Eddie Johnson, who was 19 at the time, is currently serving a 9-year prison sentence at a youth correctional facility in Pueblo after pleading guilty to the shooting.

Houston again -- PERSONAL BOND (get out of jail free) for numerous crimes
https://abc13.com/outrage-grows-after-judge-releases-repeat-teen-robbery-suspect/5112262/
Police chief outraged after teen robbery suspect released from jail
PASADENA, Texas (KTRK) --
Jakouri Jones, 18, was able to exchange jail time for his signature after posting bond for allegedly robbing four pharmacies with a weapon in a matter of weeks.
This past month, Pasadena police released surveillance video showing officers running over Jones after he pointed a gun at them while trying to run away.
Authorities say Jones is the one who wore a mask and held up five pharmacies in Pasadena and Southside Place, shot at a man and his children and ran from police with a gun in hand.
When Pasadena Police Chief Josh Bruegger went public with his disappointment and called out 230th Criminal Court Judge Chris Morton, he said, "This is the first time it's come to my attention. It's been so egregious. The public should be concerned."
According to court records, Jones was first charged on Jan. 6 for gun possession and released on a personal bond, which is basically his signature for the promise to show up court.
On Jan. 16, he picked up four aggravated robbery charges and one aggravated assault charge. The personal bond remained.
Monday, another aggravated robbery was added and Judge Morton denied the state's second request for a high bond.
Twice the Harris County District Attorney's Office has asked for a high bond. Twice it was denied.
