A member of Philadelphia Mayor James Kenney's staff taped the Democrat dancing with his chief of staff in celebration of a court ruling in favor of the city and against the Trump administration.

On Wednesday, federal Judge Michael Baylson of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania ruled that President Donald Trump cannot cut off grants to Philadelphia over the way they handle illegal immigrants.

Baylson, a George W. Bush appointee, wrote that Trump and Attorney General Jeff Sessions' "public statements... asserting that immigrants commit more crimes than native-born citizens, are inaccurate as applied to Philadelphia, and do not justify the imposition of these... conditions."

Needless to say, I think @janeslusser (https://twitter.com/janeslusser) and @PhillyMayor (https://twitter.com/PhillyMayor) are pretty excited about today’s ruling affirming Philadelphia as a Sanctuary City.

On video tweeted by Kenney's deputy chief of staff Steve Preston, the mayor opens a door and walks into a room.

He begins dancing in double-time and singing about being a "sanctuary city," and is seen giving a woman identified by Preston as Chief of Staff Jane Slusser a high-five.
Earlier this week, Kenney, 60, blasted Trump as a "fragile egomaniac" after the president disinvited the Philadelphia Eagles from a White House visit.

"Disinviting them from the White House only proves that our president is not a true patriot, but a fragile egomaniac obsessed with crowd size and afraid of the embarrassment of throwing a party to which no one wants to attend," Kenney said in a statement reported by Fox News (http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/06/05/philly-mayor-slams-trump-as-not-true-patriot-after-eagles-get-nixed-from-white-house-ceremony.html).

This ruling prevents the White House from bullying Philadelphia into changing its policies. It is a ruling that should make clear to Attorney General Sessions that federal grant dollars cannot be used for a political shakedown.

Regarding the court win, FoxNews.com reported (http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/06/06/judge-sides-with-philadelphia-in-sanctuary-city-fight.html) that:

Federal attorneys had said the city's policies put federal immigration agents in danger and create situations where criminals in the country illegally are released and allowed to reoffend.

A spokesman for the city said Wednesday afternoon that staff was reviewing the ruling. A request for comment from the Department of Justice was not immediately returned Wednesday.

The city had said that the requirements on federal grant spending were unconstitutional and that following them would promote a perception in the community that it was serving as an arm of federal immigration enforcement. City attorneys had argued that would create a barrier for immigrants to seek out city services ranging from health care to calling the police when they're victimized.

As they should, they are NOT immigrants. They illegally entered the country and are not entitled to any benefits.

I can't figure out this liberal mindset - they make no distinction between actual immigrants who lawfully come from another country and illegal invaders who break into the country for free gibs. They're simply not the same, and like you point out, people who illegally break into the county for freebies are NOT entitled to anything.

Not that city healthcare or police would assist in any real fashion.

The mayor and his legal associates ARE the "gib me dat" seekers in actuality and reason for all the dancing.

Illegal immigrants, football team royalty and minority slaves will cheer for their overpriced and useless Representative Mascots though, I am sure they're that dumb.

Wikipedia: Sanctuary_city (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanctuary_city)

A sanctuary city is a municipality that limits or denies its cooperation with the national government in enforcing immigration law. Leaders of sanctuary cities say they want to reduce fear of deportation and possible family break-up among people who are in the country illegally

You wanted this to happen

[The migrant waves] set in motion have put northern “sanctuary” cities increasingly on edge, their budgets stretched, their communities strained. And a border crisis that has animated Republican politics for years is now dividing the Democratic Party. Humanitarian impulses are crashing into desperate resource constraints, and once-loyal Democratic allies have reluctantly joined Republicans to train their fire on President Joe Biden.

Eric Adams, the mayor of the nation’s largest city, declared this week that without a federal bailout and clampdown at the border, swelling migration “will destroy New York City.” The nation’s second-largest city, Los Angeles, has promised to sue Abbott. And the liberal mayor of the third-largest city, Chicago, began pleading last month for the White House to step in.

“Let me state this clearly: The city of Chicago cannot go on welcoming new arrivals safely and capably without significant support and immigration policy changes,” Mayor Brandon Johnson said.

Gov. Maura Healey of Massachusetts, a liberal Democrat, has declared a state of emergency, activated the National Guard and started petitioning the White House for help...

Still, the rising clamor is creating a rare convergence between the two parties, which for years have fought in seemingly parallel political universes. Democrats focused on issues like abortion, the preservation of democracy and expansion of health care, while Republicans warned of a migrant “invasion” and railed against “woke” liberal ideology, socialism and expanding LGBTQ rights. Endless Republican news conferences at the border and threats to impeach Alejandro Mayorkas, the homeland security secretary, were dismissed as political bluster.

Now, suddenly, some Democrats are sounding remarkably like Republicans...

Democrats in the cities continue to castigate their Republican opponents for using migrants as political weapons, with little regard for their health or safety

In October 2021, when [New York City mayor Eric] Adams was running for office, he declared that "New York City will remain a sanctuary city under an Adams administration." His predecessor, Bill de Blasio (D.), in 2017 reaffirmed New York's sanctuary status when then-president Donald Trump halted funding to sanctuary cities.

Under Biden, who revoked Trump's order, illegal border crossings have shattered records. In last year alone, the United States saw more than 2.76 million illegal crossings.
