I just don't understand why he didn't shoot him more times after he was dead? Officers are the best in the US in the world. Thank God for the peace they offered. Training from Israel is paying off big time.

Bigjon, unfortunately in this case the cop actually wasn't lying. I watched this last week and dove into it further finding a link on LiveLeak from a CCTV camera and it does show this guy tossing a gun.

But more to the point after the guy tossed the gun he was technically unarmed when the cop shot him in the back.

Shooting in the back while restrained by 2 other people is fair. Poking hole in his head and neck is fair while totally restrained by other people. Completely fair, this is what I would wish on ever stop around here.

Do we know that the guy died? If he didn't (hopefully), it's not murder. What we do know, is that the cop panicked, and this was not a justified shooting. When a perp tosses their gun away from themselves, it's a good thing. Especially fleeing on foot. That perp, by his action, shows he's not a deadly threat anymore, and shooting him, especially in the back as he's running, is not justified.

I've been in this exact situation before. I felt a sense of relief when I saw the gun being tossed away in the foot pursuit, as if a threat went away with it.

I say about ONCE and then after the hanging, cops would learn society won't tolerate murder by cop anymore than murder by citizen.

Yep, all because of a coward cop who didn't know how to accurately judge a situation.

The guy shot didn't even have an open container when the cop steps out of his car. When the cop said he was detaining them that was technically an unlawful order as the guy provided no visible reasonable cause for being detained. It was an order given by an idiot cop who was involved in a shooting death of a 15 year old back in 2012. This pig is just trigger happy. He escalated a situation over a bullshit open container which is what? Just a citation? Ridiculous.

Agreed, but it looks like he's going after SFPD, which is the city and the cop who actually pulled the trigger will not be held responsible.

Yes, he threw his gun away and shouldn't have subsequently been shot, but seriously, that guy is no saint and really doesn't deserve the millions of dollars you know he's going to be awarded because of the way this whole thing played out.
