Problem.
A cardiologist who once treated former President George H.W. Bush was fatally shot by a fellow bicyclist Friday while riding through a Houston medical complex. Police were trying to determine if the shooting was random or a targeted act.
It happened around 9 a.m. as Dr. Mark Hausknecht, 65, was going northbound through the Texas Medical Center, said Houston Police Executive Assistant Chief Troy Finner. "The suspect was on a bicycle as well. Rode past the doctor, turned and fired two shots. The doctor immediately went down."
Hausknecht was hit at least once. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he died. He was traveling to work at Houston Methodist Hospital when he was shot, the hospital's CEO said in an email to staff.

Solution.
A day after a beloved Houston cardiologist was gunned down while biking to work in the Texas Medical Center, his grieving wife spoke out, urging gun control and tighter firearms laws.

I wish the gun grabbers would explain how ‘gun control/*tighter* firearm laws' will prevent assassination hits.

They should instead outlaw assassinations.

Sounds like the doc knew something. Was there some type of blood infection besides the 'infection' of Reptilian Bloodline?

HOUSTON (KPRC/CNN) – It's been a week since the fatal bicycle-to-bicycle drive-by shooting of Dr. Mark Hausknecht, a renowned cardiologist who treated former President George H.W. Bush.
The Houston Police chief says his death was likely a targeted murder.
Then there's the precision of the shooting. Hausknecht was shot in the torso, the upper left extremity and the head while riding his bicycle, according to the Harris County medical examiner.
The shooter was also reportedly riding a bicycle while committing the murder.
It suggests to Franks that the suspect had training.
"When the target is moving also, that takes skill," Franks said. "It could be that just the shooter has a certain amount of training, but that's typically a tactical training. That's tactical, either law enforcement or military training. Two shots to the chest, one to the head. That's usually the training when you come out – 'boom boom' to the chest; 'boom,' one to the head, in that order."
Police said a motive for the killing is still unknown.
A close friend of Hausknecht said he struggled to comprehend why anyone would kill the doctor, a Buddhist and former Boy Scout leader.

"Targeted murder" = euphemism for assassination, and we can't be talking about that 'cause then people start asking questions about victim's activities, contacts, associations, etc.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- In the years before being accused of killing a prominent Houston physician, Joseph Pappas worked as a deputy constable.
On Wednesday, Pappas was charged with the July 20 murder of Dr. Mark Hausknecht as he rode his bicycle to work in the Texas Medical Center.
A law enforcement source tells Eyewitness News that Pappas once wore a badge himself.
According to records, Pappas served as a deputy constable in two precincts in Harris County.
His 12-year record as a peace officer began in May 1983 with the Precinct 2 Constable's Office, and ended with Precinct 7 in July 1995.
Pappas then spent 18 years between both precincts as a reserve officer. He ended his service in July 2013.
During that time, our source says Pappas would have been around weapons and received firearms training.
As of Wednesday night, that skilled shooter is still on the run.

Acevedo said their break came when they received a call Friday morning about a suspicious person near a Jewish community center. The caller, who works for the parks department, had spotted Pappas while checking the grounds to make sure no one was vandalizing the area, he said.
The witness said he apologized to Pappas, explaining he thought he was a graffiti vandal, and that Pappas put his arms up. The witness then noticed Pappas had dropped his wallet, which had his ID in it, and was able to tell police that he had encountered the man they had been searching for.
An officer then raced to the scene and spotted Pappas, Acevedo said. With his gun drawn, he started giving Pappas commands. Pappas had "body armor on and was not complying" with the commands, the police chief said. He also said mentioned something about suicide.

https://nypost.com/2018/08/03/suspect-killer-of-george-h-w-bushs-cardiologist-might-have-hit-list/
The 65-year-old man wanted for gunning down former President George H.W. Bush’s cardiologist may have a hit list, according to a former pal.
The friend told KHOU 11 that he fears Joseph Pappas may be targeting his next victim after allegedly shooting Dr. Mark Hausknecht as he rode his bike to work in Houston on July 20.
“I personally do not think the doctor is the only person that he is going to target,” the friend said on the condition of anonymity. “I think [Hausknecht] was number one on the list. And Joe is extremely intelligent. He’s patient, he’s unassuming, he’s a deadly shooter.”
Pappas was bullied when he was younger and may have a chip on his shoulder.
“[When we were] hanging out together, over burgers and tacos, telling stories, and he mentioned being called the ‘Greek shrimp’ in high school and ‘Karma’s a real bitch,’ and one day the people who bullied him in high school would meet a day of reckoning,” the pal continued.
“[Pappas] made the comment, at the time I thought it was a joke, ‘Hey, don’t worry, you’re not on my list.’ Now, looking back on it, it makes me queasy to think, ‘Oh wait, maybe this guy has a list.’”
On Wednesday, police identified Pappas as the chief suspect in Hausknecht’s death. They warned he is armed, dangerous and potentially suicidal.
They’re now racing to arrest Pappas, who is on the lam, saying the death of his mother 20 years ago may have motivated him to commit murder. Hausknecht performed an operation on Pappas’ mother — though the circumstances of her death are not clear.
Pappas is a highly skilled marksman who regularly partook in shooting competitions and has an arsenal of weapons, the friend said.
He worked for years as a deputy constable in Texas, KHOU 11 reported.
“If there’s a bully he had in high school, I would tell that person to take an unplanned vacation to Alaska,” the ex-friend said.
Hausknecht was shot three times, twice in the torso and once in the head, on his way to work in the Texas Medical Center.
Police said Pappas was also on a bike and followed the doctor. He passed him — then turned around and opened fire.
Asked about a potential hit list, police said they couldn’t comment.
