Police fatally shoot homeowner who shot intruder

Associated Press

AURORA, Colo. — A man who fatally shot an intruder in his suburban Denver home early Monday was killed by responding officers who saw him holding a weapon, investigators said.

Police received multiple calls about a break-in at the home at about 1:30 a.m., and when officers arrived, they heard gunshots inside, The Aurora Sentinel reported.

Aurora police, who described the scene in a statement as "very chaotic and violent," said they encountered an armed man and fatally shot him. That man turned out to be the person who lived in the home. A second man, the suspected intruder, was found dead during a search.

A child also suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries at the hands of the intruder, but police did not release additional details, citing an ongoing investigation.

"This is a very heartbreaking and tragic situation for everyone involved," Police Chief Nick Metz said. "We are providing assistance through our victim advocates to help the family of the deceased resident through this very difficult time."

Investigators have not released the names of the resident or the suspected intruder, and the officer was placed on administrative leave. A voicemail message left on a phone number associated with the address was not returned Monday evening.

Moral of the story, only call the police AFTER the intruder has been killed. Or don't call them at all, anymore you're likely to get killed by them.

JonBenet Ramsey was in Boulder, ~20-30 miles NW of Denver. Her story still percolates, esp with the emergence of the tip of the Pizza/PedoGate iceberg-- becomes obvious through that PG-lens that the Ramseys were practicing pedo-sadists/rapists, maybe pedovores too? These practices seem to come in sets with the satanists.

That was the farthest thing from my mind back in late '90s when the Ramsey story was the never ending tabloid flavor of the week. Now it's obvious, along with Boulder PD & DA coverups.

Obviously it didn't work out well for him, but after he shot and killed the intruder, and before the cops got there, he should have put the gun down and waited in full open view for the police to arrive. By remaining hidden in the house with his gun on him, what did he expect? That the police would somehow just know that he was the homeowner?

My CCW trainer told us to keep the gun aimed at the intruder until the police arrive, even if he is dead (something about letting the feds see that you were in fear). I don't know why this guy waited for the feds before he shot the guy. I guess we wont ever know the whole story now.

I would say, shoot intruder and dispose of body. NO police need to be called. Why?

The guy lived in the suburbs, how do you propose he "dispose of body" without anyone noticing?

Naked intruder, 26, shot dead by homeowner, 73, who was then mistakenly killed by police - as it's revealed officer who opened fire was involved in ANOTHER fatal shooting one month ago

Dajon Harper, 26, was killed by Vietnam War veteran Richard 'Gary' Black, 73, after he broke into his suburban Denver home early Monday
Black was then accidentally shot moments later by police responding to the break in at his Colorado home
The victim's stepson Chad Hayashi said he saw Black handcuffed on the floor after the officer shot him, rather than being taken immediately for treatment
Black died in hospital later that day
Harper had reportedly stripped Black's 11-year-old grandson and was biting on his ear and choking him in the bathtub when Black shot him
Harper, of Denver, was previously accused of attempted murder and child abuse in 2011 but the charges were dropped, and had a long history of violence
'This is a horror movie scenario,' said Siddhartha Rathod, a family attorney
Black was a Vietnam veteran who won both the Purple Heart and a Bronze Star
The officer who shot the resident has been placed on administrative leave

What's stranger is you don't read it on any MSM. Seems dailymail takes a bit longer to post news but they actually have journalists that get facts instead of parroting what the MSM does.

Yes and they are in England, and considered a half trash tabloid. But I agree they do descent journalism, when they don’t spread gossip on the famous, can’t blame them though, they need to earn money giving the public what they want. If some of that goes to descent journalism like this piece. Kudos to them!
