i do the forms by hand at the kitchen table, attach check and mail it in.

a month later i get a letter telling me where i f-ed up and the correction. this is every year (minus one) for the last decade

is this normal? i was under the impression they checked random or suspicious...not continuous

If they catch one mistake, and presume you made an error or "error" the same way in previous years, they will check.

They're asking for you to pay them for 9 out of the last 10 years?! Never heard of the IRS going back more than 4, except in cases of obvious fraud or "failure to file."

Are you certain they are wrong? They sent my daughter a demand letter a couple of years ago, and I wrote the letter she sent back to them. They said, "oh, sorry, see you(r money) next year." Keep in mind the IRS is chock-full of Niggers, so it could be "human" error...on their part.

LARPing online is one thing. Telling someone who trusts you something that can get his property, liberty, or even life taken away is another.

The list is long of those who claim "no duty to file a 1040"...who have spent years in Club Fed. Their own schemes didn't work for them. Peter Schiff's daddy among them.

Of course you have a "duty" to file a 1040...because they will take your property (e.g., bank account and/or earnings) without constitutional due process, or send goons with guns to put you in chains.

Paying taxes has been an unpleasant experience for thousands of years. Just or unjust, it doesn't matter. If you deal in the realm of "Federal" Reserve Notes, "they" know about it, and you will be told to pay. After all, Jesus told us to "render unto Caesar" based on who's image was on the currency. The seals of Judeo-Freemasonry and Talmudism themselves are on the back of the "Federal" Reserve Notes. If they demand some of them back, you give them back, or suffer the consequences.

Sure, they can demand you pay them a cut of your barter, including when using God's money (gold or silver), but if they don't know about it...

They scan paper returns and then the computers run error checkers. So, yeah, every one is checked. E-filing, of course, is also checked...but usually by Turbo Tax, et. al., before submission, so the errors are very rare. But simply cooking the numbers doesn't get caught with the simple scan (I am NOT suggesting you are cooking your numbers). Some returns get flagged, and get a more in-depth check later (e.g., my daughter's return from the year before last at the time, for "unusual" education expenses).

How much are we looking at? If a significant sum, it would be worth it to have a tax specialist check your work.

I've done that due diligence, and have concluded, using reason and facts, that "tax avoidance" or "tax evasion" using the arguments of Schiff, the Browns, et. al., do not work.

If you've been successful in avoiding consequences for refusing to file your 1040s year after year, that doesn't mean you're "using the law," it only means you're blessed beyond human comprehension in avoiding the logical consequences visited on hundreds of diligent activists who thought "the law" - or lack thereof - matters to the IRS. Or, it's quite possible that you're simply...well, you know.

I suspect this an indicator your "tax avoidance" scheme is based largely upon some sort of shysterese trust scheme. Massive "business losses" for your trusts, resulting in "no tax liability."
