The weight and size of the fake SAEs is spot on. They have a silver washing over a base metal core. They fail the ring test. Be careful as the are very good fakes. In the photo, note the poor taper of the sun's rays and the overly textured webbing in the flag that give the fake away to a keen eye.

The fake looks very fake to me. The sun's rays look like ridiculous chunks. The detail of the real coin is chunk-ified in the fake. And the fake Lady Liberty appears to be wearing pasties.

It's easy after you know what to look for. Maloney expressed concern that the counterfeits are getter better and better and in the future may be very difficult to detect.

I saw this clip earlier and after looking at the eagles, i think the difference is like night and day. Only an untrained eye with a distant casual glance could possibly mistaken these. How any reputable dealer could get fooled by this is hard to believe. Why even need a "ring test"?
