If the bloody foot prints head towards where the gas mask was dropped, why are there no bloody foot prints for the walk back to his car?

I actually looks like the blood spatter is from someone that has been shot and is bleeding from an artery and in fact is running back into the theater.

Was the real shooter to be picked up after dumping the gas mask to make a get away, but was shot at instead, then ran back into the theater to get away from
the guys that shot him?
