'Former youth football coach and scout Michael "Kit" Carson has died in a car crash the day before he was due to stand trial accused of sexually abusing boys, Peterborough Crown Court has heard.

Carson, 75, was scheduled to face the charges of historical sexual abuse of boys aged under 16 on Tuesday, but died when he drove his Mazda 3 into a tree on the A1303 at Bottisham in Cambridgeshire on Monday morning.
