Just for the record, there was never an actual lock down. It was referred to as a "shelter-in-place". People in seven communities were requested to stay at home. There was no penalty for leaving your house.

Dysgenic, checking in from a 45 minute car ride from Watertown. As mentioned on another thread, the scope of thing locally is off the charts from the standpoint of discussion, interest level, business closings, school closings, road closings, and multiple sporting events cancelled. Here, it feels bigger than 911...EVERYONE is talking about it.
I would describe the mood of the average person here as confused. This story is just bizarre. Some of the questions that need answers:
Why did the New York Post finger the wrong people initially?
Why didn't the dogs sniff out the bombs pre-explosion? Multiple reports are that there were dogs everywhere. I've been able to confirm them only through hearsay (I know a guy that knows a guy that was there).
These kids hung out at the gym the day after the event. Huh?
Initial reports are that these kids robbed a convenience store the day after hanging out at the gym. Initial reports indicated the officer that responded to the call was shot and killed. Then they backed off that story.
What is up with the released audio of the high speed chase? It sounds totally staged. Hundreds of guns shots, dogs barking, and bombs going off.

The 'official story' is still being fleshed out, so that is a tough question. But I am optimistic. The thing with the car chase just sounds impossible, and people are certainly skeptical. Every major news outlet reports that these kids robbed this convenience store and shot and killed this cop while he was in his cruiser responding to a call about the convenience store robbery. Then they all back off the story and say the robbery was unrelated. HUH? I spoke to someone today, a friend that I would consider very mainstream and I think this thing could possibly wake him up. This thing with the convenience store is very sketchy to anyone with half a brain. I was listening to the talk shows and there were many questions about this convenience store robbery....then all a sudden the story changes. Hmmmmm. Stay tuned.
