Some defendants in Nevada, Oregon prosecutions claim 1st Amendment press protection

A flurry of dramatic property and civil rights-related trials is taking place across the western U.S. in federal courts, in which defendants, including independent media representatives, are charged with up to 17 crimes each, from trespass to terrorism.

All the accused had confronted or ignored law-enforcement officers in group protests in either 2014’s Bunkerville, Nevada, confrontation or 2016’s similar standoff in Harney County, Oregon. Both showdowns were responses to perceived overreach of federal bureaucracies – chiefly the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Since 1994, the Bundy family of Bunkerville, Nevada, had grappled with authorities over grazing rights in contested areas near their land. On April 5, 2014, hostilities erupted into open conflict resembling a range war. Armed Bureau of Land Management employees and rangers removed and shot the family’s cattle, supposedly as a way of recouping fees the federal government claimed rancher Cliven Bundy owed. Masses of protesters, some armed, stood in open confrontation with federal and local law enforcement for a week, until the BLM finally backed down and left.

Two years later, treatment of the Hammond ranching family in Burns, Oregon, triggered the occupation of the nearby Malheur Wildlife Refuge starting Jan. 2, 2016, and lasting 41 days. The main cause of the protests was the re-imprisonment of ranchers Dwight Hammond, 74, and son Steven, 47 – after they had already completed their original sentences. The Hammonds had been charged and convicted under the “Anti-Terrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act of 1996,” when back-fires they started spread onto federal lands. Even the Hammond case presiding judge, Michael Hogan, claimed both the severe “terrorism” criminal charges and mandatory minimum five-year sentence the statute imposed were excessive, and in fact that imposing such a long sentence “would shock the conscience to me.” Nevertheless, after serving relatively short sentences and being released from prison, the federal government doubled down on the “terrorism” charges and appealed the sentence – winning on appeal due to the lack of judicial discretion allowed under the “mandatory minimum sentence” part of the law. So the Hammond father and son went back to prison where they are now.

Meanwhile, buoyed by their 2014 victory in Nevada, Bundy sons Ammon and Ryan joined, indeed led, the Oregon protests, but events deteriorated.Leader LeVoy Finicum was shot to death on Feb. 26, 2016, by unidentified law enforcement, and several other occupiers were arrested. Moreover, the government then decided to issue arrest warrants for participants in the 2014 Bunkerville confrontation.

The initial trial for seven of the Oregon protestors took place in the fall of 2016, and ended with a surprising “not guilty” verdict for all defendants – including ringleaders Ryan and Ammon Bundy.
At the time, the Obama administration admitted that federal officials were “rattled by the Oregon verdict.” Federal prosecutors have since added new charges for some defendants, which will not be eligible for jury trials.

Judge Anna J. Brown presided over the entirety of the Oregon trials. Many trial observers, especially those sympathetic toward the defendants, have reported a flagrant bias on the judge’s part against the defendants, but there’s more. In fact, as news reports document, Brown either ordered or allowed Ammon Bundy’s attorney, Marcus Mumford, to be tackled and tased inside the U.S. District Courthouse in Portland right after the conclusion of the fall trial in which his client was found not guilty.

Journalists and bloggers among the defendantsAmong the 32 defendants are a disturbing number of writers, bloggers and video teams. And although journalism certainly isn’t cited as a crime, many charges appear to hinge on the motivation, speech and political beliefs of the “journalist” defendants. Dozens who gathered at either place were informed they were considered “unindicted co-conspirators.”

Comparing media members who face charges with those who are not, the major difference appears to hinge on expressions of support for the “occupation’s” organizers or their causes.

Witnesses at both Malheur and Bunkerville described a constant media presence, including major networks. CBS, CNN and others were either present or remotely covered the confrontations. RT showed up in courthouses, as did press from Britain and Norway. Freelance journalists and documentary film crews spent nights at the Oregon refuge. None of these was arrested, regardless of length of time spent or the number of trips.

Eventually police blockades effectively sealed Burns off from the outside world. Only embedded journalists were left reporting at the refuge toward the latter part of the occupation and the ultimate FBI/BLM siege. Among these were Pete Santilli, Tom Lacovara, Michael Emry and Blaine Cooper.

Santilli is no novice to alternative news. His “Pete Santilli Show” claims to critically analyze the U.S. government and has amassed tens of thousands of listeners since 2011. Santilli was accused of helping plot the Burns occupation and was indicted on conspiracy and other charges. Although he also covered the Bundy standoff in 2014, he was not arrested until January 2016, toward the end of the Oregon occupation.

Oregon Public Broadcasting acknowledged “the case against Santilli [is] so far largely based on words,” offering a snippet of his anti-government rhetoric from a broadcast at the refuge: “I dare you, you government fricking Nazi pukes, I dare you to continue to spread lies, fear and intimidation and threats!” Before his death, LeVoy Finicum said Santilli was there as press, not as a protestor. And in fact, witnesses claim Santilli “provided most of the media coverage” with snippets of his broadcast being used by global media. A Burns resident claimed many people depended on Santilli and other embedded journalists because of news blackouts.

Defendants are divided into three levels of alleged offenses. Santilli is one of a few in the top tier, charged with leading events in Burns. The state asserts that his broadcasting was inflammatory, although the only casualty during the entire six-week occupation was Finicum, shot at a police roadblock. Although all charges were dropped against Santilli in Oregon, he now awaits trial in Nevada, facing up to 94 years in prison, as do other defendants charged under the 1996 Anti-terrorism Act.

Santilli’s defense claims false evidence was manufactured by the FBI in its case against him. He also “outed” at least one covert FBI informant in Burns and led a protest in front of a makeshift FBI headquarters there. It was part of his war over now-sanctioned FBI agent Daniel P. Love, whose covert work allegedly led to two suicides. Santilli blasted Love as “the most evil man in America, immune from prosecution” in a 2015 broadcast.

Nevada Assemblywoman Michelle Fiore appeared on Santilli’s YouTube channel in support of defendants held in her state. She demanded an investigation of the BLM, leveling serious charges against them. Other Nevada politicians joined Fiore in this, noting that Santilli was arrested immediately after accusing Hillary Clinton of links to Russia and uranium in the contested areas of Nevada.

Blaine Cooper, who was involved in both the Bunkerville and Burns occupations, claims he was threatened into a plea agreement and given poor advice by his court-appointed attorney. Cooper has a prior rap sheet, but in February 2016 his charges appeared to be related to online support of patriotic groups in the western U.S.Founder of the alternative news site “Third Watch Productions,” Cooper made live-feed videos from Burns, describing the situation and, the state charges, encouraging people to join the occupiers’ efforts. Cooper remained after LeVoy Finicum was killed, insisting the rancher was unarmed when shot. “I wanted to be a voice on social media, but I never thought this would get me incarcerated,” he said. Cooper has since turned state’s witness and has testified for the prosecution in Portland.

Tom Lacovara hosts the Internet show “Resurrect the Republic Broadcasting” and produced “Dirty Uncle Sam” radio, with various contributors.

Although he claimed to be in Burns in a media capacity only, Lacovara was arrested at Philadelphia in December 2016, almost a year after the occupation ended. He was charged as a “felon in possession of a gun,” although he was unarmed when detained. As the first trials began in Oregon last fall, Lacovara penned articles in support of Malheur defendants. Shortly before his arrest, he made scathing videos charging the government with collusion to deny Cooper competent counsel as well as of outright lying. After his arraignment, Lacovara was sent to Oregon, where he awaits his own trial.

War of words
Defendants insist the Nevada indictments – coming as they did some two years after the peaceful, non-violent end of the Bunkerville standoff – constitute a form of retaliation from the agencies involved.

Only alternative or patriot media voices such as Emry and Santilli were arrested for their actions at Burns and Bunkerville. Fox News reporter Dennis Michael Lynch covered most of the Bunkerville protest live, but of course was never arraigned as an “occupier.” Likewise, Joe Biggs experienced no repercussions over his presence at the Bundy Ranch in Nevada while working for the “Alex Jones Show.”

The prosecution’s case against defendants appears to relate to their words and motives as much as their actions. Defendant Sandy Anderson was released after months in jail after it was noted she “had no history of protests.” Prosecutors insist the standoffs were potent rebellions against the U.S. government despite lack any assaults or physical injuries. Public calls to attend either event, disliking the government, or anger expressed at officials, whether written or verbal, were cited as examples of activities constituting “conspiracy.”

Other protestors face the same grim charge, or weapons charges or a series of minor crimes such as trespass or misuse of government property. Emry, Cooper and other defendants made plea deals, claiming they had little choice. Even pleading guilty in U.S. federal courts may cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.What makes a true journalist?

Possibly a quarter of the protestors at Burns considered themselves de facto broadcasters at some point of the occupation. Prosecution challenged some defendants who claimed media status, asking for press credentials or credits. Yet alternative and social media are almost impossible to categorize this way. This arguably dilutes the immunity the press enjoys under the First Amendment, but is part of a larger issue now playing out as technology, the Internet and especially social media revolutionize the traditional meaning of “news” and “journalist.”

Ironically, the Bunkerville trials in Nevada could come to a crashing end with the revelation that an FBI team posed as a fake documentary film company and fished for incriminating answers from defendants. Snippets of these videos are now being used against defendants at court in Las Vegas.

Gary Hunt, who meticulously documented the Oregon standoff, is now ordered to stop writing about court proceedings from his home in California. So far, he has refused to honor Judge Anna J. Brown’s request and hasn’t appeared before her Portland courtroom to reveal his sources. Brown reportedly subpoenaed Hunt in connection with exposing identities of covert agents.

Hunt had an interesting confrontation with an FBI agent on a short visit to Burns in 2016.“

I asked him if he recognized me as press … and he responded that he thought I worked in a gray area,” Hunt recalls. “I asked him if the FBI wasn’t also working in a gray area.”

COMPREHENSIVE PLAN FOR REORGANIZING THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH

By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, it is hereby ordered as follows:

Section 1. Purpose. This order is intended to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and accountability of the executive branch by directing the Director of the Office of Management and Budget (Director) to propose a plan to reorganize governmental functions and eliminate unnecessary agencies (as defined in section 551(1) of title 5, United States Code), components of agencies, and agency programs.

Sec. 2. Proposed Plan to Improve the Efficiency, Effectiveness, and Accountability of Federal Agencies, Including, as Appropriate, to Eliminate or Reorganize Unnecessary or Redundant Federal Agencies.

(a) Within 180 days of the date of this order, the head of each agency shall submit to the Director a proposed plan to reorganize the agency, if appropriate, in order to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and accountability of that agency.

(b) The Director shall publish a notice in the Federal Register inviting the public to suggest improvements in the organization and functioning of the executive branch and shall consider the suggestions when formulating the proposed plan described in subsection (c) of this section.

(c) Within 180 days after the closing date for the submission of suggestions pursuant to subsection (b) of this section, the Director shall submit to the President a proposed plan to reorganize the executive branch in order to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and accountability of agencies. The proposed plan shall include, as appropriate, recommendations to eliminate unnecessary agencies, components of agencies, and agency programs, and to merge functions. The proposed plan shall include recommendations for any legislation or administrative measures necessary to achieve the proposed reorganization.

(d) In developing the proposed plan described in subsection (c) of this section, the Director shall consider, in addition to any other relevant factors:

(i) whether some or all of the functions of an agency, a component, or a program are appropriate for the Federal Government or would be better left to State or local governments or to the private sector through free enterprise;

(ii) whether some or all of the functions of an agency, a component, or a program are redundant, including with those of another agency, component, or program;

(iii) whether certain administrative capabilities necessary for operating an agency, a component, or a program are redundant with those of another agency, component, or program;

(iv) whether the costs of continuing to operate an agency, a component, or a program are justified by the public benefits it provides; and

(v) the costs of shutting down or merging agencies, components, or programs, including the costs of addressing the equities of affected agency staff.

(e) In developing the proposed plan described in subsection (c) of this section, the Director shall consult with the head of each agency and, consistent with applicable law, with persons or entities outside the Federal Government with relevant expertise in organizational structure and management.

Sec. 3. General Provisions.
(a) Nothing in this order shall be construed to impair or otherwise affect:

(i) the authority granted by law to an executive department or agency, or the head thereof; or

(ii) the functions of the Director relating to budgetary, administrative, or legislative proposals.

(b) This order shall be implemented consistent with applicable law and subject to the availability of appropriations.

(c) This order is not intended to, and does not, create any right or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity by any party against the United States, its departments, agencies, or entities, its officers, employees, or agents, or any other person.

Citizens Call on Congress to Impeach Judge in Bundy Ranch Trial

Judge Gloria M. Navarro of the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada, who is the judge in the Bundy Ranch Trial, is now being targeted by citizens who are holding her to a constitutional standing for bad behavior and have set forth a petition that will be turned into a letter that will be sent to the Governor of Nevada, along with the House and Senate of Nevada and representatives and senators in Washington, DC. The letter is calling for her impeachment per the Constitution.

According to a petition at Change.org, those signing it are calling for Judge Navarro's impeachment by Congress for "committing treason and collaborating in the insurrection against the Constitutional authority of the federal government pursuant to Article I Section 8 Clause 15, Article 3 Section 3 and Article 2 Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution, 18 U.S.C. § 2831 and 18 U.S.C. § 2383."

• Article I, Section 8, Clause 15: To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;
• Article 3, Section 3: Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.
• Article 2, Section 4: The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.
• 18 U.S.C. § 2831: Whoever incites, sets on foot, assists, or engages in any rebellion or insurrection against the authority of the United States or the laws thereof, or gives aid or comfort thereto, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.
• 18 U.S.C. § 2383: Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.

The letter then lists the specifics of the charges against Judge Navarro. Here they are in full.

Whereas Judge Navarro, at the direction of the FBI, BLM, and other federal agencies, is unlawfully detaining (Amendment VIII of the Bill of Rights & 18 U.S.C. § 3142), and has been for over nine months, prominent activists within the Citizens for Constitutional Freedom political movement for exercising their First Amendment protected rights—protesting against federal government overreach [the fact it had sold 9,000 acres of public land bordering Bundy Ranch and other people who own grazing rights to the division to a Communist Chinese energy firm represented by Rory Reid (Harry Reid's son), EMM, for $4.5 million, $34.1 million less than its value, and began rounding up the Bundy’s cattle and holding them in inhumane conditions … at least 60 purportedly suffering death or missing]—and, in order to suppress C4CF 's education of the People, they have been charged by the FBI for violating 18 U.S.C. § 371 - Conspiracy to Commit an Offense Against the United States; 18 U.S.C. § 372 - Conspiracy to Impede and Injure a Federal Officer; 18 U.S.C. § lll(a)(l) and (b) - Assault on a Federal Officer; 18 U.S.C. § 115(a)(l)(B) - Threatening a Federal Law Enforcement Officer; 18 U.S. C. § 924(c) - Use and Carry of a Firearm in Relation to a Crime of Violence; 18 U.S.C. § 1503 - Obstruction of the Due Administration of Justice; 18 U.S.C. § 1951 - Interference with Interstate Commerce by Extortion; 18 U.S.C. § 1952 - Interstate Travel in Aid of Extortion; 18 U.S.C. § 2 - Aiding and Abetting. Among the political prisoners are Cliven, Ammon, Ryan and Mel Bundy, Peter Santilli (a journalist), Ryan Payne, Blaine Cooper, Eric Parkerand Jerry DeLumus—all of whom provide C4CF with necessary influence.

Whereas the discovery comprises substantial evidence proving the innocence of the defendants but is being concealed from the public at the order of Judge Navarro (in violation of Amendment VI of the Bill of Rights and Rule 26 of the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure). These prisoners have also been subjected to mistreatment by the FBI, U.S. Marshall Service and employees of the correctional facilities.

Whereas Judge Navarro is consciously proceeding with falsified charges filed by the FBI against C4CF and refusing to grant motions to dismiss after learning that Sheriff Douglas Gillespie and many other local, state and federal officials ordered the BLM to return the cattle to the Bundy’s and withdraw from the land, and being presented with relevant laws [Article I Section 8 Clause 17 & Article IV Section 3 Clause 2 of the U.S. Constitution, Rule 501 of the Federal Rules of Evidence and Nevada Revised Statute 568.225] by the defense.

Whereas, after being ordered by Sheriff Gillespie to stand down, Special Agent Dan P. Love of the BLM continued to impede on the rights and jurisdiction of the People of Clark County and all People of Nevada unabated; Committing acts of aggression that should be considered attempts to seriously injure or even kill peaceful protesters, including tazing several individuals and using blunt force (some already challenged by physical disabilities)—an apparent result of its militarization. Sheriff Gillespie stated that "anyone who had been in policing would question their tactics."

Whereas Judge Navarro is participating in a cover up of the suppression by the FBI (by way of COINTELPRO tactics) of the right to the free exercise of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, peaceful assembly, and petition the Government for a redress of grievances. One of the main functions of government is to enforce contracts, and in this case not only is the government failing to enforce a contract but it is also the contractor, and have abridged their obligations in addition to preventing the contractee(s) [Cliven Bundy—We the People] from discharging our duties enumerated in Article I Section 8 Clause 15 & 16 of the U.S. Constitution & 10 U.S.C § 311 and pursuant to Rule 501 of the Federal Rules of Evidence.

Whereas Judge Navarro has proven herself unfit to be an impartial Federal Judge; Consistent to the extreme bias expressed by her assistance given to the federal government and its usurpation of power and by covering up the inhumane treatment of political activists who are being unlawfully detained for exercising their rights protected by the First Amendment to uphold the rule of law—to establish justice, insure domestic Tranquility, secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, guarantee a Republican Form of Government, and secure the right to life, liberty and property, as ordained by the Creator in the U.S. Constitution.

The letter will then be delivered to the following recipients.

Federal prosecutor Steven Myhre, in charge of the high-profile case against the Bundy family ranchers, has been named acting U.S. attorney following the resignation last week of Nevada U.S. Attorney Daniel Bogden.

The shift follows Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ request Friday for the immediate resignation of all prosecutorial appointees of former President Barack Obama. The request amounted to a mass dismissal of chief prosecutors in 46 of the country’s 94 federal judicial districts. Such dismissals are customary when a new administration takes control of the Justice Department.


The U.S. attorney’s office in Nevada acknowledged receipt of Sessions’ request last week but refused until Tuesday to confirm Bogden’s official resignation.


Bogden quit Friday, and Myhre was appointed as acting U.S. attorney Saturday.

The utter hypocrisy that is being demonstrated in the Bundy Ranch trial by those who swore an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution from both foreign and domestic enemies is quite telling as to the level of corruption we are seeing in our land today. Furthermore, it is demonstrating that many of those who have taken that oath not only don’t know what the Constitution says, but also have become the very domestic enemies they proclaim to oppose because of their ignorance.

“Judge Gloria Navarro presiding over USA vs Cliven Bundy says, if the Prosecution does not call Daniel P. Love to the stand she is leaning heavily toward not allowing the defense to call him to the stand either,” Jordan wrote. “In a shocking statement made outside the earshot of the Jury this past Friday, Navarro said that she has no obligation to allow the defense to call the former Special Agent in Charge of the Bundy cattle impoundment to the stand for the purpose of impeaching his testimony to the grand jury.”

No obligation? This is the government’s star snitch, I mean witness, Bureau of Land Management agent Daniel P. Love. Perhaps, the reason lies in the fact that the BLM’s conduct at Bundy Ranch was thuggish and tyrannical (Watch Video evidence of their misconduct here and here). Perhaps, the reason lies with the fact that Love was found guilty of misconduct by the Inspector General on a number of issues, including using his influence to obtain tickets and special passes to the Burning Man festival in the Nevada desert. He was also instrumental in driving Dr. James Redd to the point of suicide over his collecting of Indian Artifacts in 2009.

As for Judge Navarro, citizens are planning to issue a letter to Congress calling for her impeachment due to her conduct in the case.

However, that is not the whole of what is taking place in Nevada. The Nevada Independent reports:

Although no shots were fired that day, federal officers previously testified that alarming investigative intelligence, combined with the guns present in the agitated crowd and para-military dress of some of the protesters, made them afraid for their safety. Six defendants the government describes as Bundy’s gunmen are on trial accused of threatening and intimidating BLM and U.S. Parks Service law enforcement officers.

In recent weeks, on cross examination, the defense has managed to portray the federal cops as inexperienced wannabes who lacked judgment and overreacted under stress. After the decision was made to discontinue the roundup, some of BLM rangers and Park police initially refused orders to put away their weapons, stand down and pack up. Some of their responses under oath made them appear more fearful than professional.
But the defense this past week had little success with Metro Sgt. Tom Jenkins and none at all with Sheriff Joseph Lombardo.

Additionally, there was testimony by Metro Sgt. Tom Jenkins, who claimed that protesters were flashing handguns and rifles “from the time we got there until the time we left.” However, he remained steadfast in his claims even though lengthy recorded exhibits didn’t always agree with his testimony. Someone is not being truthful or has a really bad memory that cannot be trusted.

Jenkins claims his officers were “scared” and “crying.” Really?

I wonder if Jenkins thought there was fear in of the hearts of the Bundys and their supporters over this?

Then there was testimony from Lombardo. Again, from The Nevada Independent:

When Lombardo’s took the stand Thursday, he reminded those who have followed his career that the public needn’t worry about his leadership skills. An assistant sheriff at the time of the standoff, Lombardo accompanied Sheriff Doug Gillespie to Bundy’s makeshift stage outside his ranch in an attempt to cool the heated rhetoric and avoid bloodshed. He stood patiently during Bundy’s windy grandstanding and impossible demands — disarm all federal law enforcement and bulldoze the entrance booths at the region’s federal conservation and recreation areas — and then returned to Las Vegas believing the botched cattle roundup was reaching a peaceful resolution.
For the first time jurors saw video of the elder Bundy holding forth with armed, uniformed members of the Arizona State Militia, who call themselves the “Praetorian Guard,” standing guard. Dozens of his hundreds of followers were armed with handguns and rifles.

When Bundy instructed his followers to go get his cattle, Lombardo’s day grew complicated and dangerous. He attempted to negotiate with one of Bundy’s sons, Dave Bundy, in a plea for patience and enough time to allow the BLM to make a safe exit.

It was Lombardo, jurors learned, who essentially put his career on the line to overrule BLM Supervisory Special Agent Dan Love and press for the release of the impounded cattle during the height of the armed standoff’s tensions.

“He advised me they were federal cattle and it was his decision,” Lombardo said.

Fortunately, Lombardo prevailed.

On what constitutional basis do Cliven Bundy’s cattle become “federal cattle”? There is no victim any what the government is portraying here. Furthermore, just because a video shows armed citizens protecting one another from a tyrannical BLM, something that even Sheriff Lombardo was willing to stand up to, doesn’t mean they were breaking the law. Seriously, is no one reading the Second Amendment? Do none of these people know why we have it and what provoked the writing of the Second Amendment? or the First? or the Third? or the Fourth, etc. etc.?

While the author of the Nevada Independent piece concluded, “Bring guns to a peaceful protest, and you’re bound to get everyone’s attention,” what he failed to identify is who brought them first. The response of protesters with guns was an equal and measured defensive response to tyrants, period. Now, you can see the utter hypocrisy and lack of moral compass that is on display in this case.

Federal withdrawal of resource-rich lands threatens Minnesota jobs, way of life

The issue
At issue is a proposed 20-year withdrawal of federal minerals across 234,328 acres in the Superior National Forest within the Rainy River watershed. That means, potentially, no mining there and, more-specifically, no Twin Metals project near Ely.

Our region is blessed with an abundance of base and precious metals. Our more than 4-billion-ton deposit of copper, nickel, and platinum-group metals is one of the largest in the world and holds a significant percentage of our U.S. resources for these metals.

Unfortunately, our ability to develop these metals and the thousands of great-paying jobs they would create is jeopardized by the recent U.S. Forest Service and U.S. Bureau of Land Management proposal to withdraw federal land and minerals in Northeastern Minnesota from future leasing, exploration and potential development.
This politically motivated decision, coming in the final days of the administration of President Barack Obama, is inconsistent with current national policy. It could result in devastating and irreversible damage to the citizens, communities and economy of the region. All a withdrawal would do is chase investment away from Minnesota and make the U.S. more dependent on foreign governments for the metals we use every day.

Interestingly, the targeted federal lands are in an area of historic mining activity where mining currently is allowed and encouraged by federal and state law. In fact, many exploration plans of operation, submitted by several companies in the proposed withdrawal boundaries, have been approved by the Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management in the last 10 years. Now, the same agencies want to stop all leasing and exploration in these same areas? Amazing.

If enacted, the withdrawal proposal would cause the state to lose thousands of potential jobs from future mining projects, billions of dollars in future investment in Northeastern Minnesota, and billions of dollars of potential revenue to support the state’s K-12 education system.

The withdrawal is completely unnecessary. Environmental safeguards are already in place. A thorough and comprehensive environmental-review process already is established under the National Environmental Policy Act. It is the responsibility of the federal agencies to accept proposed mineral development projects and subject them to the science-based review under the act.

The proposed withdrawal is not based on science or any specific project. It will not make a project better, and it will not improve the environment. The unproven concerns raised by Bureau of Land Management and the Forest Service are based only on hypothetical and unfounded fears of generalized impacts from mining.
The withdrawal area also includes 140,000 acres of state-owned minerals. Of which, 95,000 acres are state school trust fund minerals. According to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, potential projects could generate nearly $3 billion in royalty revenue for the state’s Permanent School Trust Fund. This would support the education of nearly 900,000 K-12 students statewide. A significant amount of this enormous economic opportunity and education responsibility would be lost under this anti-mining withdrawal proposal.

Mining already provides thousands of jobs for hard-working Minnesotans. An independent economic analysis by the University of Minnesota Duluth estimated that more than 12,000 construction-related jobs and 5,000 long-term, mining-related jobs would be created if all projects under various stages of development in the region advanced to operation.

Federal agencies continue to ignore the voices of those most affected by this drastic proposal. Fortunately, many area leaders are speaking up in opposition. The withdrawal is strongly opposed by the entire Minnesota Iron Range legislative delegation and over 50 additional Minnesota state legislators, the vast majority of local elected officials throughout the region, and U.S. Rep. Rick Nolan, who has led the fight to reverse the federal action.

The Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management immediately should reverse their decision to pursue mineral withdrawal in Northeastern Minnesota and stop this effort that promises devastating and widespread impacts on the livelihoods of families all across our state.

I am guilty of not following the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) persecution of the Bundy family over grazing rights for their cattle and attempts to protect those cattle from BLM confiscation.

There are those that truly believe the Bundys are criminals for not paying exorbitant grazing fees and then resisting the BLM for attempting to take the Bundy cattle to pay for those back exorbitant fees.

Catherine Crabill pretty much sums up how the government has gone from protecting U.S. citizens to thrive to using Big Brother tactics for Leftist environmentalism, Crony Capitalism or both:

While many remain oblivious to the strangulation of our most fiercely independent and productive citizens, the American Rancher, this last week’s news cycle sputtered out incomprehensible sound bites about Nevadan Rancher, Mr. Cliven Bundy.

Sometime in the mid 1800’s, long before Nevada was a territory, much less a state, Cliven Bundy’s ancestors settled a tract of land to raise a family and provide a livelihood ranching cattle.

In 1946 another debacle of a government agency was created, The Bureau of Land Management.

Like every single government agency, without exception, the BLM became a bloated bully who’s main contribution to the western states, in particular, was to destroy life, liberty and personal property.

52 other families in Clark County Nevada alone, had long since given up fighting the BLM. Grazing rights were/are typically denied under the guise of protecting “endangered species”, (a common practice nationwide to destroy watermen, farmers, and ranchers), or grazing fees are raised until those, like the Bundy’s, who dug the wells, fenced the land, and managed it just fine, are driven off or bankrupted.

The BLM also threatened the Bundy’s because they declared he owed them more than a million dollars in said “grazing fees”. I’ll say it again, for using the land that has been in his family for 7 generations.

I was gratified when all those defendants were exonerated by jury trialpertaining to the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge standoff. Unfortunately right after their jury exoneration the BLM and other Federal Agents arrested them for another trial over a standoff that took place prior to Malheur in Bunkerville Nevada area of the Bundy Ranch cattle operations.

This government persecution continues with the appearance of COVER-UP:

The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform has requested an investigation into allegations that employees of the Bureau of Land Management destroyed federal records, tampered with witnesses and obstructed a congressional investigation.

The original report details how BLM employee Danial Paul Love [aka Dirty Dan] used his position to gain entrance for family and friends to the Burning Man festival — held on BLM-managed land — and assign a security detail to his party and provide overnight lodging for these attendees.

It then goes on to document ways Love attempted to instruct witnesses and influence the testimony of colleagues questioned by investigators.

The Oversight Committee’s letter cites the report’s allegations of email scrubbing, conspiracy to change and withhold records for an impending congressional inquiry, and coaching witnesses as having the potential to taint the investigation and undermine trust in BLM’s law enforcement office. For this reason, Chaffetz asked for further scrutiny of Love’s actions.

An investigation accusing a federal agent of misconduct and ethics violations could derail one of the most high-profile land-use trials in modern Western history.

But a Jan. 30 report by the Department of Interior’s Office of the Inspector General appears to raise serious questions about the BLM special agent in charge of operations during the standoff, who is expected to be a key witness for the government in the case.

The report, which does not identify the agent by name [Yup, it was Special Agent In Charge Dirty Dan], cites ethical violations that occurred in 2015 at the annual Burning Man event in Northern Nevada’s Black Rock Desert.

Federal investigatorssaid the agent wrongly used his influence to obtain benefits for himselfand his family members at Burning Man, abused federal law-enforcement resources and intimidated other BLM staff to keep quiet about his conduct. They also accused the agent of manipulating BLM hiring practices to help a friend get hired.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Las Vegas also declined comment. Spokeswoman Trisha Young said Friday the witness list in the Bundy Ranch trials has been sealed and is not open to the public, and she declined to speak about Love’s role in the case.

“It’s in an ethics report. I think everything is up for grabs — misuse of the vehicles, using intimidation,” Gordon said. “This stuff, it suggests that he’s willing to cheat and lie for his job.”

She said defense attorneys involved in the Bundy Ranch trials might not be able to show juries the inspector general’s report [Why the H-E-Double Hockey Sticks NOT! Where’s the justice in suppressing the IG Report?] but could question Love about specific incidents raised in it.

Investigators said when they began looking into the complaints, the agent called other employees and encouraged them not to cooperate. He told them “I don’t recall” was a valid answer to investigators’ questions, the report said.

Investigators said the agent used intimidation to discourage his co-workers from speaking with investigators, telling one: “You know, if you don’t side with me, grenades are going to go off and you’ll get hit.”

On websites and social-media posts dedicated to the Bundy Ranch standoff, Love is accused of ratcheting up the conflict.

Recorded exchanges purportedly between Love and right-wing internet radio host Peter Santilli during the standoff show just how quickly events escalated as each man threatened the other with arrest.

Love maintained he had the federal courts on his side and wanted to end the standoff peacefully. Then he told Santilli that the protesters didn’t have enough people to hold off law enforcement, saying, “You better hope that 10,000 show up,” according to one website.
Santilli is one of the 17 facing charges.

For two decades, the BLM repeatedly ordered Bundy to remove his cattle from federal lands and in 2014 the agency obtained a court order to seize Bundy’s cattle as payment for more than $1 million in back fees. In April, the BLM, led by Love, implemented a roundup of 1,000 head of Bundy’s cattle ranging on public land.

Bundy fought back, issuing a social-media battle cry to help defend his land rights against federal agents. Supporters, including members of several militia groups, streamed to the ranch from several Western states, including Nevada, Arizona, Idaho and Montana. They showed up with rifles and handguns, determined to keep government agents at bay.

Reporter Pete Santilli had his hearing in Nevada on Monday on trumped up charges he is facing for his reporting on the Bundy Ranch Siege in 2014. As he left the courtroom in chains, he cried out, “I’m a journalist. This is what they do in Communist China!”

The corruption can be seen with Defense Attorneys and the Prosecution sparing about what evidence is admissible and about which witnesses will be allowed to testify:

A downtown Las Vegas courtroom provided scenes as wild as a Western movie Monday when federal prosecutors and defense attorneys battled over nearly every piece of evidence presented in the trial against six of rancher Cliven Bundy’s supporters.

Defense attorneys tried to block a government witness from testifying. A prosecutor invoked an evidence rule that led even the judge to flip open a legal handbook. A juror made a wisecrack that caused one lawyer to raise concerns of potential bias.

By 4 p.m., U.S. District Judge Gloria Navarro had sent the jury home early and told them not to return until Wednesday.

The day’s most hotly disputed footage was played outside the presence of the jury when defense lawyer Todd Leventhal tried to bring into evidence a video from the April 2014 standoff in Bunkerville. The video was captured by a Fox News cameraman, and Leventhal, who represents Bundy supporter O. Scott Drexler, wanted the judge to let him play it when he cross-examined Bureau of Land Management Ranger Gregory Johnson.

Johnson testified as a government witness Monday. On April 12, 2014, he was recorded on dashboard camera footage using a megaphone to repeatedly order protesters to disperse.
The protesters, who were gathered near the site where federal authorities had been impounding Bundy’s cattle, screamed angrily. At one point on the footage, authorities referenced a man walking towards them — “blue shirt, looks like press.”

The cameraman was identified in court only by his surname, Lynch. Defense lawyers tried to use the footage he captured to bolster their arguments that protesters could not understand law enforcement’s instructions from 200 yards away on a windy day.

On the video, Lynch walks toward the cattle impoundment site where federal authorities were headquartered.

“I do not have a weapon — I am shooting for Fox News,” he yelled. “May I approach so this doesn’t end in bloodshed … the people don’t want to get hurt.”

“You are in violation of a U.S. District Court order,” Johnson’s voice boomed over the megaphone.

“I am the press!” Lynch shouted.

“Go back.”

“Why? Why can’t you talk to me?!”

“You are in violation …”

“I have no weapon! Are you really gonna shoot these people?” Lynch exclaimed. “We can’t hear your announcement that far away.”

Navarro would not allow the video into evidence Monday, but she told Leventhal he could play it for jurors if he calls Lynch as a defense witness.

Recall above info in which Special In Charge Dirty Dan Love is accused of ethics violations and witness intimidation. Dirty Dan is the guy in charge yelling at the Fox News cameraman for documenting the standoff. Dirty Dan’s BLM Agents tried to confiscate the Bundy Cattle and intimidated the Ranchers into arming themselves with vicious actions against the protestors.

Guess what? The Federal Prosecutor is trying to prevent Defense access to Dirty Dan at the trial:

It appears the government wants to hide the illegal actions it has taken, along with those of the Bureau of Land Management in the Bundy Ranch trial that is soon to begin.

On Tuesday, Prosecutors in Las Vegas filed a Motion In Limine in the case of The United States vs Cliven Bundy et al. They are hopeful that Nevada District Court Judge Gloria Navarro will allow the US central government to “cover-up” any wrong doing by Bureau Of Land Management agents during the 2014 Bundy Ranch siege.

An attorney for one of the defendants told Guerilla Media Network, “It’s a shocking blatant attempt by the Government to cover-up the brutal conduct of BLM agents that caused a near catastrophe in Bunkerville, Nevada during the impoundment of rancher Cliven Bundy’s cattle.”

Guerilla Media Network reports:
The motion is a draconian attempt at best to “protect” government agents from being exposed to further scrutiny during the upcoming Nevada trials in which they will be under-oath to tell the truth.

The defense in this case is centered around civil rights violations of the Bundy family and protestors who came to Bunkerville, Nevada to protest an overreaching government agency who had beaten and incarcerated Cliven Bundy’s son Dave Bundy and other protestors, used a stun gun on his son Ammon Bundy, viciously attacked Mr. Bundy’s sister Margaret, and terrorized peaceful protest with threat of snipers and military force.

“It is what it is and we will fight it,” said Chris Rasmussen, attorney for reporter and radio show host Pete Santilli. “The government wishes to eliminate anything we could use that goes to the defendants’ state of mind .. and we cannot allow that to happen. These people were frightened and there was a reason they reacted the way they did.”

“Do we or do we not still live in America?” said former Nevada State Assemblywoman Michele Fiore on Tuesday in response to the motion. “One way or the other the truth will be told and I would like to see them stop me from voluntarily giving my testimony when this trial begins.”

Fiore has alreadytold about some of the evidence that is known to exist concerning the criminal BLM, including audio and video from body cameras, and even spoken out on their crimes on the Nevada Assembly floor.

Defendants in the case of United States vs Cliven Bundy et al .. are accusing the BLM [Bureau of Land Management] and the FBI of altering dashboard and body-cam video in an attempt to cover-up their aggressiveness during the 2014 protest that led to the arrest of Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy and 18 others.

Defendants are also accusing the FBI “infiltration team” who posed as a documentary film crew called Long Bow, of editing video at crucial moments to make defendants who gave interviews look guilty of crimes they did not commit.

On at least 5 different occasions the defendants in the case say that video used to gain their indictments and create the Governments narrative that has kept them all in jail pending trial, was clearly altered at crucial moments to hide what they believe would expose the BLM as the aggressors and not the “victims” as Prosecutor Steven Myhre contends.

We have found at least 5 different clear cases of evidence tampering and have only viewed 1/4 of the discovery that was recently released to us by the Prosecutors office say defendants, who have begun the process of creating a power point demonstration that will be viewed by defense attorney’s on October 7, 2016.

This is the real deal, so I figured I'd post it in full, especially since it says exactly what I said - that this was all set up by the government and false truthers.

The key to victory in any battle is the ability to remain calm in any given situation. What we are seeing right now is a whole bunch of people acting based solely on raw emotion. This is very bad and I'm about to explain exactly why. I am not letting my emotions make my decisions for me, but instead, looking at this from a calm, level headed, common sense approach.

What you are all witnessing right now right now in Oregon has the makings of a full on false flag event. And I will prove that to you to the absolute best of my ability. Should you choose to look at this from a logical perspective you will see I am 100% correct. Some of what I will tell you is speculation based on my own experience and experiences of others I have talked to throughout this ordeal, but most of what I am going to tell you is documented verifiable fact.

Back during the Bundy situation, Ryan Payne declared himself the unofficial "leader" of the militias present at the Bundy ranch. Nothing could have been further from the truth. In fact, none of the militias listened to him at all. The ONLY ones who listened to him were the Bundy's, Blaine Cooper, who Payne claimed was a "professional security consultant', who turned out to be nothing more than an ex con, and buddah bear (nice name) who he also claimed was a "professional security consultant", but was later discovered to be nothing more than a tattoo artist thug. The militias ignoring these three, is precisely why that situation didnt turn into a blood bath. (strangely enough all three are present at the refuge)

I and Scott Woods were asked on one occasion, by Payne to go and destroy BLM equipment in the middle of the night. We refused, stating that that's not why we were there. We were there solely to defend the family. That very same night he rushed off in a car with a loaded AR to START a violent altercation with LEOs who supposedly had pulled over members of the Armenian Militia off exit 10 near the ranch. This report was never vetted nor was it looked into before he rushed off. It is also well documented that Payne had tried to incite other militia members to start violent altercations with the authorities who were present there. all of which were refused by militia members..all for the same reason...we were NOT there to start a fight...but to DEFEND the family. When people refused, Payne, Cooper, and Buddah ostracized them and ran them off the ranch. This is why most militias left the ranch when they did. One other point worth mentioning was there were militiamembers present with long range 50 cal sniper rifles... but instead of positioning them on the hilltops surrounding the ranch, Payne had them stationed down in a valley where they were effectively useless...does that sound like the makings of a solid leader to you? And also Payne was always sure to make certain that there was ONE completely UNDEFENDED access point to the ranch.. I brought this up to him asking why he would leave our back door completely open and undefended... and he completely blew me off... What he was doing in fact, was leaving an access point open for authorities to bum rush the ranch if that's what they felt needed to be done. And I have the witnesses to prove it.

Now throughout the situation Payne made repeated threats to law enforcement on NATIONAL media. There's VIDEO of him doing this..its not hard to find. Yet oddly enough with all that evidence he was never charged with anything during or after the standoff. Does that seem ODD to anyone but me? (not if you're a paid provocateur) Now in this situation at the refuge, he has publicly stated to a reporter that he has snipers set up to kill any federal official who approaches the refuge. Yet still.. no charges are being filed against him. making threats like that, you'd think they'd swoop in and scoop him up... but noooo.. because they're giving patriots time to get there... Don't think for one second that with a couple of phone calls to the proper alphabet agencies, those shmucks wont be SORELY outnumbered. Tell you what... if you think LEO's don't take threats against them seriously... go find the nearest cop and walk up to him and tell him you plan to kill police officers and see what happens to you.. See how long it takes for you to end up in prison.. yet Payne roams free..as does Cooper. Better yet go ask Schuyler Barbeau what happens when you threaten a public official... oh wait...you can't... hes in prison... because of a facebook post. Funny how that works huh? Also... has anyone else noticed that until this situation popped up

Payne was damned near SILENT on social media? Wonder why that is... Hell, Most of you don't even know who he is... He also claimed to be an Army Ranger, But when we had someone at the Ranger School check their records... they said NO Ryan Payne had EVER attended that school... whoda thunk it?

Myself and Scott begged the Bundys, after we left (via phone) to stop listening to Payne..that he was a plant. But they refused to listen. Payne wouldn't let ANYONE talk to the Bundy's with out him being present..or close by. The Bundy's are good God fearing Christians but they are TERRIBLY naive. They truly believe Payne is one of the good guys. Which is why they are at the refuge now. Do you honestly think for one second it was AMMON's idea to take that building? If you do... you're a fool. They're not that type of people. Ammon has been suckered into this standoff by Payne and Cooper. He truly went up there with the intention of helping the Hammonds, and when they were refused,

Nothing could be further from the truth. Now Cliven is on his way there.. and the govt is finally going to get their revenge on the Bundy's and in doing so gain the access they need to their land. Payne, Cooper, Pete Santili... All well trained provocateurs who are doing everything in their power to lure patriots to the ranch.. Case in point...Santili just released a video try to say that the FBI was TRYING to shut him down.. Dont you think if that were the case...with ALL of the resources the FBI has, they would just go ahead and do it...do you really think this shmuck is smart enough to outsmart the ENTIRE FBI? Think about it...

Let us continue on.. why the wild life refuge? how in the blue hell did they even know it existed if this wasn't PRE-PLANNED? And why were their trailers staged up there THURSDAY night if this was all "unplanned"? And if they wanted support so bad...why not let the Oregon 3%ers and militia in on this? I'll tell you why.. because they would have had no part in it and vehemently refused if they had known.... as was demonstrated by their response once they found out. SO..that being said.. why pick a place so remote.. I'll tell you why.. the same reason the Bundy ranch was picked.. it's remote... no civilian casualties. And if everyone out there is killed there's no witnesses allowing the govt to write the narrative of what happened afterwards..You can bet any reporters out there will be silenced should they actually get close enough to catch anything worth documenting unless of course they're willing to report what they're told to... the reason it failed at the Bundy ranch was because the community got so involved... NOT the case at the refuge.

Next.. why has a detachment of Delta Force been deployed to the area? (does anyone remember that Delta was ALSO at WACO?) 19 sets of orders were cut for operators to be at waco. Why in the Blue hell would they send Delta to squash a bunch of unorganized mostly unarmed protesters? I'll tell you why.. one of the things Delta specializes in is hostage rescue.. I.E. blow open a door rush in and shoot the bad guys but save the good guys.. I.E. embedded reporters from the national media who can later report the protesters fired first.

This is happening EXACTLY the same way WACO did... you know who else claimed, "We won't fire first but if attacked we'll fire back.."? David Koresh. Again well documented fact. This situation is going to turn out the exact same way. If these guys don't stand down now, while the sheriff is giving them an opportunity to, I promise you.. its going to turn out the exact same way. I'll bet my life on it.

Now lets look at poor John Ritzheimer. This guy is exhibiting all the classic signs of PTSD. It is my belief that he is not in on this plan but like the Bundy's... has been suckered into believing what he is doing is right. This poor bastard is still fighting the war in his head and Assholes like Payne and Cooper are feeding into his delusions that dying for this cause is what he needs to do. They are taking advantage of his big heart and his undying love for the country he fought for and twisting him into a suicidal maniac. Im sorry if that stings.. but I assure you its the cold hard truth. How could ANYONE in their right mind think that dying trying to fight the BLM of all things is going to "change the govt"? They are going to hit these people with such force with such blinding speed and a level of violence of action that most patriots are going to turn and look at their own children and go there's no way in HELL I want that to happen to MY family... thus the reason there are women and Children being taken to the refuge. The govt has already shown at WACO and Ruby Ridge just how willing they are to kill American Children. Don't think for a second they wont do it here as well.

All the classic signs of a psyop. They plan to frighten the people into not even daring to ever take a stand against them again.

So what then of the militias? We'll still be here but will be forced into hiding.. those who aren't will be scooped up and charged as Domestic Terrorists. Do you for even ONE second really believe that this happening at the same time as Obama prepares to announce a whole new slew of gun restrictions is really a coincidence? Its not.. Not at all. If everyone picked up and left that refuge tomorrow, what do you think Payne and Cooper would do? They're so die hard...think they'd stay and fight? I mean that's what they're saying... they're not leaving right? Prepared to die for the cause....right?.... My ASS ! Nope... they'll slink back into the shadows and wait for the next opportunity to bamboozle good patriots into signing their own death warrants. And of course... once again.. neither will be charged with anything. And good peoples lives will be risked for nothing.

We're being goaded into a fight here people...you NEED to see that. And every ONE of you who is advocating for this...Know this... if these people die... it will be YOUR fault. Not mine, nor will it be the fault of ANYONE in ANY unit I command. I simply wont allow it. THIS is the reason my troops follow me.. because I take the time to think these things through...to look at them from ALL directions... not based on sheer emotion as so many of you are doing now.

It was stated, dare I say, TAUGHT to me today by a close friend who is an ex special forces operator, that wars are not won by people taking rash actions such as the ones that have been taken here. Wars are won with proper planning. That shit hit me like a brick.. And I Will NEVER forget those words as that is the smartest thing I have heard throughout this entire ordeal.

The first thing I teach my guys is when they make unexpected contact with the enemy is, the proper response is to fall back, reset and take back the initiative.

That's what we need to do here. Will it look like a loss in the eyes of the people? Absolutely. But hey, you all had better get used to the fact that we are not going to win every battle.. Then, we regroup, and WE pick the time and place of our fight...not the enemy. WE make THEM react.. WE pick ground that is most sensible for a proper defense, not a building in the middle of a field that has absolutely NO defensible positions as in the case of the refuge. Then we properly equip, plan, rehearse, and execute. If you want to win a war...that's how you have to do it. Most importantly.. we expose frauds like Cooper and Payne for who they truly are. and drum them out of the movement before they really get someone killed.

So that my take on this mess... listen to me if you want, ignore me at your own peril... either way it is of no consequence to me. I will not debate this issue, and NO ONE will change my mind about this... I have done too much research into this situation to allow ANY armchair commando to dictate my actions for me. This is the war you all wanted so badly... now either lead follow or get the fuck out of the way. End of story. The writer of the article above should study the Bolshevik revolution because it seems very similar to what I see happening here now. He sounds naieve about what the jewish/communists have done in the past. I'm wondering what choices Christian Yingling will be making and what he's actually doing to turn this country around and get it headed in the right direction back towards a constitutional republic instead of communism.

I do not disagree with what you are saying, but this one part of what he wrote is pretty close what has transpired up to today. His opinions of what he and his troops might do are irrelevant as far as the what jumped out at me in what he wrote. Whether Santilli and Ryan Payne are govt. plants remains to be seen. But I do believe the Malheur takeover was a setup by the government to entrap the Bundys and get them killed or jailed and make an example of them to deter anyone else from standing then consficate their range rights, water rights and maybe even the 160 cars of deeded land. Ryan Payne may be a plant and I would never really trust him. Something doesn't seem right to me about him. I believe he claims to be a Messianic Jew as well. There are and have been others around them I wouldn't trust either.

Ammon Bundy seems to me to be knowledgeable about adverse possession and when all else failed I don't doubt he would attempt trying it to continue drawing attention to the corruption there with the BLM and Hammond family.

I remember twenty years ago hearing Mrs. Hage and her husband, Wayne Hage, dealing with this same BLM takover of their land and grazing rights. This issue has been going on for even longer than that and has very much to do with Agenda 21 and taking over the land by the government. I would find it extremely unbelievable that over this time there have not been numerous government plants and shills right in the middle of all this.

This is a good thing IF this awareness translates to reacting to the current Bundy Nevada and Oregon cases in the right way. The trial for the Political Prisoners in Las Vegas, Nevada continues this week. The prosecution has presented their case over 5 weeks, even extending it beyond what they originally stated.

Judge Gloria Navarro has allowed the prosecution much leeway, but has ruled that the defendants will not need the same concessions. She has micro-managed the defense case repeatedly and has now decided the six defendants will only need a week to present their case.
The government’s case, though it was scheduled to be completed already, does not expect to rest until this Friday, March 24, 2017. The court will then take a week off. The defense is expected to begin their case on Monday, April 3^rd.

Witnesses have told me that the US Marshals have decided that they will no longer allow copies of the US Constitution to be brought into the courthouse. They have even gone so far as to remove them from ladies’ purses to be discarded into the trash. It is not limited to just those that are showing from shirt pockets.

Defendant Eric Parker, who has consistently placed a copy of the Constitution in his pocket during these proceedings, was forced to remove it and told to keep it flat at the defendants table so the jury could not see it.

The jury cannot be allowed to even look at the Constitution!

Gregory Burleson, Eric Parker, Orville Scott Drexler, Steven Stewart, Todd Engel and Richard Lovelien are the first of 17 defendants to stand trial in the Bunkerville Protest trial. They are each accused of 10 charges including conspiracy, firearm offenses and assault on a federal officer. They each face up to 101 years in prison if convicted of all charges.

Cliven Bundy, along with his sons Ryan and Ammon Bundy and two others are expected to begin their trial in May. Another trial for even more co-defendants is expected to begin in August.

The government is continuing their attempt to control the narrative in this case. It was not an armed standoff. This was a protest. A protest in which no shots were fired, no one was injured and the cows were set free.

These men were left free for 2 years, to live their lives without fear. The government then decided to round them up, refuse them bail, and are now trying to send them to prison for the rest of their lives, all for voicing their disagreement with the Federal Government.
And now the US Constitution has been demonized by this same government.

The only legitimate authority the fed has is through this charter,created by the states. Now when they see a constitution, they act like Dracula seeing a cross…AAARGH ! It sounds very one-sided for the prosecution by what was written in this article and that the judge is taking sides rather than being impartial. What a shame, after watching the hearing of Judge Gorsuch, Supreme Court Nominee, yesterday and hearing him expound on what good judges do, it sure seems that the Judge Gloria Navarro is not at all impartial in this case. I am not a liberal, but I certainly think the government overstepped their boundaries in this event and the ensuing judicial matter and trial. Why don’t we just take all the rancher’s lands from them and be done with it. Then the government can make lots more money fining any of us who trespass on the “national lands” and they can strip the areas bare of all minerals and water, and any other money-making/valuable parts of the land. Sounds like many in the Federal Government have already banned the Constitution and are barging ahead with their own agendas.

The Bundys were trying to help a fellow rancher who was under attack in Oregon by this corrupt government. The Hammonds didn't go looking for a fight either. The government brought it to them and their fellow ranchers. The same thing was done in Ukraine to the farmers there. They took the land away from them and the ability to feed themselves and their families.

Never claimed I ever was an expert at law. However, I study a lot of tax law to a point I'm no longer liable for income taxes.
I stopped the employer from categorizing my earnings as 26usc 3121(a) "wages" (box 3 on the W4). As a result of not being categorized as 26usc 3121(a) "wages" (social security) they are also not deemed 26usc 3401(a) "wages" (box 1 on the W4) for income tax purposes.
No taxes being withheld. Iowa income laws piggy's back the federal code, so no state taxes being withheld either. And the employer loves me because the employer is now off the hook for 50% of what was my Social Security taxes.
Win win for the both of us!
All because the SS regulations say Social Security is voluntary. Its voluntary because in order to participate you must confess to being a "US citizen" who dont have the protections of the Bill of Rights.
And the law states no laws can be passed that blocks any American from the protections of the Constitution....hense why Social Security is voluntary!

I do not wish to be disagreeable and I really do not have deep knowledge of this case or the law, however that never holds me back from throwing in my two cents.

I think the operative phrase here is "public land."

It appears that the the federal government took over state land. Now "public land" has a new definition and becomes "federal lands". I think the Bundy's are trying to have the state, not the federal government decide on their grazing rights, as I believe was the way it worked for them for decades in Nevada. Does the state of Nevada no longer have any administration authority of "public lands" in their state? I know these are rhetorical questions but they seem to more correctly zero in on the crux of what is at issue here.

You are mis-informed. They do not own the land nor do they claim to. Nor is it Public land Bardon v. Northern Pacific Rail Road.

The Bundy family has owned grazing rights, not BLM permits since the late 1800,s. These rights are private property under Nevada law. The Congress created the Bureau of Land Management in 1946 and gave them power to write their own rules and regulation under the Administrative Procedures Act of 1946. The Bundy family, like most ranchers signed a contract with the newly minted BLM to pay for managment costs. All the Acts of Congress relating to the BLM say they wiil respect all prior rights, water, mineral, grazing, etc that have been appropriated to the people. The BLM ignored the Congress in the writing of their regulations. In 1993 the regulations were becoming so stringent Cliven Bundy canceled his contract with the BLM. Without a contract they cannot accept payment. Bundy offered the money to Clark County, Nevada who refused it. He put it on deposit in the bank.

The original grazing and water rights recognized by Congress and by Nevada are still intact. He still owns the right to the feed and the water. He also owns the improvements to the springs and fences. The only thing he has done is refuse to contract with the Bureau of Land Management who is required by law to respect his rights.

The jurisdiction of the US District Court and the attorneys is doubtful. Newcomers who do not have vested grazing rights may enter into a contract for a grazing permit. But the must own a base property and water rights. A grazing permit may be revoked. Rights cannot.
