Good on Max for getting out. This must be very tough on him. The older you get, the harder it is to make such a move. Even getting on an airplane for a vacation is daunting for me; of course I will not fly again unless the stupid tyranny at the airports stops and that will never happen. Max is very articulate and has done some very important work. I would hate to lose him.
My niece posted on her facebook yesterday (I don't do fedbook) that she flew this airline I think to Los Angeles from Reno, Nevada. She said not TSA no lines really bragged it up.They only serve a few states so choices are very limited.Quote:

As for being thrown in prison for not having a DRIVER LICENSE when a motorist, that largely depends upon where you're located and who you're dealing with. A few years ago I had a DPS Trooper as a neighbor. He KNEW my license registration (on that particular automobile) had not been renewed for several years plus my automobile lacked the requisite front license plate (removed so as to not draw attention to the lack of a valid sticker on the windshield). When we passed on the road he'd wave. I hear that people get thrown in prison in Missouri for not having a license while a motorist. I once visited Missouri in my completely unregistered automobile (with professionally made private 'tag') and no DRIVER LICENSE, didn't have an issue. I also visited New Mexico with my completely unregistered privately owned automobile where a NM DPS paced me for over ten miles (apparently trying to rattle me) yet ultimately didn't bother me.
I've a friend who surrendered his DRIVER LICENSE. When a DPS Trooper asks for his DRIVER LICENSE he advises that he surrendered it, the Trooper just smiles (as in "I see you know the score.")
A drivers license is needed to do commerce - business. If you are just traveling down the road , no license is needed. It’s a play on words. If you get pulled over, you were traveling down the road, not driving.
A license is required to operate a business on public property, therefore those in the business of transportation (i.e. hiring out to haul passengers and/or goods) are required to have a license, e.g. delivery truck drivers, bus drivers, chauffeurs, wrecker drivers, OTR truck drivers, etc.Quote:

While a driver's license is not needed to travel the FEE they charge for it (times 10) is what they seem to call BAILMENT aka BOND. They (that would be the UNpeace Officer or CoppiceMan) are more agreeable to a ROR (release on recognizance) if you have one of these in hand.
This function makes the document a negotiable instrument. You might be responsible for a negotiable instrument if you endorse the back. Just like a check. And behold there is an area in the back of the DL for endorsements.
And I think the eye test required to get one helps keep blind people from presenting themselves to my windshield.

On a side note nobody appears to be disputing the federal requirement that pilots require a license to fly. And these are FEDERAL documents. Which places flying in the FEDERAL domain while commerce on the highway is a STATE domain.
