Far-left Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau faced another round of heckling and widespread laughter in Parliament on Tuesday, prompting audible cackling at his use of the term “responsible leadership” after invoking the never-before-used Emergencies Act against anti-mandate protesters this week.
The Emergencies Act is a law passed in 1988 that allows for widespread federal civil rights violations in the event of violent civil unrest, terrorism, and other emergencies. The law replaced the War Measures Act which granted similar sweeping powers and was last used by Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, the current head of government’s father, against secessionist terrorists in Quebec. The violence in 1970 that prompted such a move is almost entirely absent in the current anti-mandate movement, however, leaving many – including a large number of provincial leaders – baffled as to why the younger Trudeau invoked the act.
I'm not a significant consumer of Canada's corporate (fake) news narratives, but reading this transcript of Canada Parliament debate from February 15, the leader of the opposition asks when this invoking will be debated and " if the criteria has been met," over numerous responses to this question the only substance Trudeau manages to offer as answer is to blame conservative politicians for encouraging the leaders and "the blockaders who ripped down the fencing around our National War Memorial"Quote:

Mr. Speaker, yesterday, the Prime Minister invoked the Emergencies Act. Twenty-four hours in, and there are more questions than answers. There are questions about whether this is justified, questions around if the criteria has been met, and questions around what this means to Canadians' rights and freedoms.
Parliamentary approval is required in order for the Prime Minister to use this unprecedented sledgehammer. Can the Prime Minister tell us when Parliament will be debating this? Will it be coming to us on Friday? Does he expect that we will look at it Friday, but then rise, take a week off and not actually deal with this until March?

When you listen to legacy media you come away with the perception that the Canucks are completely hemmed in, their trucks are being towed, and they've have been getting their asses taken down and cleared out, but that's not the reality. The truckers haven't gone anywhere, in fact they totally own the street in front of Parliament and the immediate vicinity having set up camp, coming and going as they please.
