I was listening to NPR or WLS this morning and they brought up the fact that cops were just running everywhere. The voices brought up that property rights were being violated. Then added that in times like this it is good thing for the cops to do what they need to do.

I believe the "suspect" has been apprehended. (shot)

Just for the record, there was never an actual lock down. It was referred to as a "shelter-in-place". People in seven communities were requested to stay at home. There was no penalty for leaving your house.

As mentioned on another thread, the scope of thing locally is off the charts from the standpoint of discussion, interest level, business closings, school closings, road closings, and multiple sporting events cancelled. Here, it feels bigger than 911...EVERYONE is talking about it.
I would describe the mood of the average person here as confused. This story is just bizarre. Some of the questions that need answers:

Why did the New York Post finger the wrong people initially?
Why didn't the dogs sniff out the bombs pre-explosion? Multiple reports are that there were dogs everywhere. I've been able to confirm them only through hearsay (I know a guy that knows a guy that was there).
These kids hung out at the gym the day after the event. Huh?
Initial reports are that these kids robbed a convenience store the day after hanging out at the gym. Initial reports indicated the officer that responded to the call was shot and killed. Then they backed off that story.
What is up with the released audio of the high speed chase? It sounds totally staged. Hundreds of guns shots, dogs barking, and bombs going off.

Heard the question at the press conference.

Possible scenario- Obama pushes for "terrorist" classification. It gets rejected. Boston, or Mass. say, we'll prosecute for murder. But wait, no Miranda rights were read. Oh, well.

The 'official story' is still being fleshed out, so that is a tough question. But I am optimistic. The thing with the car chase just sounds impossible, and people are certainly skeptical. As mentioned, the audio has what sounds like hundreds of gun shots (and news sources confirmed more than one hundred rounds discharged), dogs barking, and bombs going off at 1:30am. They had over 1000 cops PLUS the FBI chasing these guys in a confined area, and one of them got away? It's just so wild that people don't know what to make of it.
The thing with the convenience store robbery is also totally bizarre. Every major news outlet reports that these kids robbed this convenience store and shot and killed this cop while he was in his cruiser responding to a call about the convenience store robbery. Then they all back off the story and say the robbery was unrelated. HUH? I spoke to someone today, a friend that I would consider very mainstream and I think this thing could possibly wake him up. This thing with the convenience store is very sketchy to anyone with half a brain. I was listening to the talk shows and there were many questions about this convenience store robbery....then all a sudden the story changes. Hmmmmm. Stay tuned.

Note in the video in Sui Juris' post #203, the police chief refers to continuing the recommendation that people remain in there house.

Earlier in the week, when asked if the security should be tighter at the Boston Marathon, he said that we have to be careful not to turn public events into a police state.

Boston Bomb Suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev Clings to Life

Police said he went undetected by the massive manhunt because he had managed to get just one block outside the search perimeter.
It is unclear whether Tsarnaev was hit again during a final volley before his arrest in the boat.
Investigators -- who are expected to be the country's elite counterterror unit -- are hoping that Tsarnaev survives because they are intent on determining what triggered the shocking attack and whether he had any help. The bombing killed three, including a young boy, and wounded about 170. An MIT security officer was allegedly killed by the duo on Wednesday night and a Boston transit cop was badly wounded in a subsequent shootout.

Clearly a rash from the boat not being sterilized before he was apprehended. As always innocent until proven guilty.

This is the first (older) brother.

It doesn't make sense why the younger guy would drive over his own brother.

Maybe they were never part of the original incident and were hyped up on mind-altering drugs or something?

Although the younger guy failing the last two semesters and being absent for the last two weeks does point to a pattern.
