Just Caught my Neighbor Stealing my firewood
I just caught my neighbor stealing my firewood. My wood has been getting swiped for the last couple of weeks a few pieces at a time. I put a heavy tarp over it and some big blocks of wood. I heard a block of wood hit the ground and the tarp rustle around. I put on my shirt grabbed my light and ran out there just into to see them running into their back yard and slam the door.
My wife and knocked on the door but they were too scared to come out. I shinned my light through the window and could see them hiding in the dark by their chair.
Now if they needed the wood they should have just asked. I don't have much it's just for emergencies but had they asked they could have had some. On top of this they are some real assholes that have always had loud parties and been very rude to us every chance they get.

Re: Just Caught my Neighbor Stealing my firewood
Lol! You shined the light into their house and saw them hiding like animals? I had a bad day, but this story still made me laugh pretty hard.

Re: Just Caught my Neighbor Stealing my firewood
Time to move? Anyone swiping wood from me could do it easily as it's bucked and split all over the damn place but to steal off your stacked up pile, that's something. Any smoke coming out of their chimney? Is it cold outside?
You should explain to them how a typical masonry fireplace actually removes heat from the house and then find a way to sell them a stove?
Why would you involve your wife in this?
I guess maybe you live in one of those states where the rack of a shotgun is criminal "threatening display"
Whatever dude.....

They are just being neighbourly ..... ;D

Re: Just Caught my Neighbor Stealing my firewood
It's cold but not bad, I could smell the smoke coming out of their chimney. I went outside by my self but my wife was so pissed she wanted to see what they had to say for themselves and followed me out.

Re: Just Caught my Neighbor Stealing my firewood
Poor things, I think you should build them a nice stack of very dry firewood just next to their wall, together with some crumbled newspaper in between, and then you can help them fixing their porch light electric problem... Be a good neighbor!

I guess we can file this under....."That's straight up crazy stuff, right there"......
My apologies...You still might consider shooting your neighbor though, or at least letting them in on the concept that it is a possibility.
Location, location...my neighbors are all totally cool and I need a scope to see them.

nothing worse than a petty thief. I would prosecute them to the full extent.

Re: Just Caught my Neighbor Stealing my firewood
Drill a hole in a few and load them with enough powder to scare the hell out of them and make a real mess. Make sure to mark them in some way so you don't grab them by mistake.

Clearly some sort of auto targeting full auto weapon is in order.

Re: Just Caught my Neighbor Stealing my firewood
Right now, pre-shtf, I'd personally deliver them the same amount they have taken from me.

Re: Just Caught my Neighbor Stealing my firewood
I'm sure there's something you could have hidden in the logs that would stink or put out thick colored smoke when burned.

Drill out the center, fill it with sulphur ( or whatever ;D ), then plug the hole.

Stack a full cord next to their front door so they don't have to walk so far. Don't be a jew.

Yep that sounds about right but whatever you plan to (Spike the wood or just let it ride)\
DONT CALL THE COPS
They love to arrest/harrass or stalk the people who are just rightfully defending their property.
And if you going spike it with something use this........

lol rotflol
I'd go with the fence idea or get a game trail camera. With the camera it will take photos of them poaching your firewood. Print out each photo, place said said photos in a photo album labeled "The Smith Family Criminal Organization." Perhaps, in the front couple of page you use a flow chart as to their chain of command. Then place the the album on top of the suggested "I'm not a jew" wood pile at their front door.

Re: Just Caught my Neighbor Stealing my firewood
Book has "almost" the right idea......put some wood at their front door with a note and tell them that if they need help that you will help them cut down some trees for a fire...........but of course the tree won't be dry so that they will have a smoky fire........a smoky fire is better than no fire at all.

OK, that's a shotgun shell with salt in it, right? Because at first I thought it was crack. Crack didn't seem like a good idea to me. ;)
I think it's sad that a neighbor is stealing from a neighbor. It's hard for me to imagine anyone over 14 that would think it is remotely acceptable to steal from a neighbor. It indicates severe lack of forethought. They are really desperate or they are really jerks. Sad, either way.

Re: Just Caught my Neighbor Stealing my firewood
Club them like baby seals.
or roll over and make it the states problem.
Here is an Idea:
You could call Book have him don his HOA badge and cape and then he could go all Statist on them.

Re: Just Caught my Neighbor Stealing my firewood
If your neighbors are willing to steal firewood, they probably wouldn't pass an opportunity to steal other stuff
-
Re: Just Caught my Neighbor Stealing my firewood
Never underestimate the power of the Word of God.
I put this verse up on my door years ago (my apartment dwelling days) when I had a neighbor of dubious background intent on stealing.
Proverbs 24:15 Lay not wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; spoil not his resting place:

Re: Just Caught my Neighbor Stealing my firewood
Not that you'll actually get paid but send him a bill for the amount of firewood X 2 and that you have kindling for sale at an honest price too.
-
Re: Just Caught my Neighbor Stealing my firewood
Go on their roof, block their chimney and smoke 'em out like on True Grit.
-
Re: Just Caught my Neighbor Stealing my firewood
Good fences make good neighbors.
Time to secure/move your firewood.

You cracked me up. You clearly see rock salt but think for a sec it`s crack? Lets see now, when I finished a major coke run 15 years ago
( in a hospital, I may add), for about a month after whenever I saw ANYTHING white like a white table, all I could think of was coke ;)
PS. Bro, those neighbours of yours, do you know them personally or you have no idea what kind of people they are?
The only excuse for their behaviour would be if they were starving to death and half their kids were already dead from freezing.

Re: Just Caught my Neighbor Stealing my firewood
although loading up a couple of logs with sulphur or whatever sounds like a good idea, they would probably sue you for damages, and what if their house caught fire?
build a small shed for your wood, you can build an 8x12 shed pretty cheap, put a good lock on it, and set some signs up like this one...
-
Re: Just Caught my Neighbor Stealing my firewood
Maybe it's time to get a dog? Although mine is the gentlest, sweetest dog whenever there's strangers walking around outside she has a nice authoritative bark. I've noticed that we have very few door-to-door people peddling goods anymore, I guess they tell their buddies?

Tresspassing is something that cattle and other animals do and "No Tresspassing" signs are not legally binding against humans under the common law.
Sign should read:
PRIVATE PROPERTY FOR PRIVATE USE, NO TRESSPASS.

So because you are a filthy drug addict, you falsely see others as filthy drug addicts? Got it.
