Manhunt over, bombing suspect alive and in custody
Police cornered and captured Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev Friday night.
The Boston Police Department arrested the 19-year-old at about 8:45 p.m., after finding him holed up in a boat stored in the backyard of a Watertown residence. He was led to an ambulance and driven away from the scene.

Dysgenic, checking in from the area. It's wild around here. Many people got sent home from work and many businesses closed. I have friends that know people involved in the investigation, but no one directly. EVERYONE is talking about this thing. From the standpoint of scope, it feels bigger than 911 based on the amount of discussion, interest level, and so forth.

They are going to tell you about the new frontiers in the so-called Islamic Terror Cells: The Caucasus and Central Asia. They’ve been planning this for a long time. In fact, the plans were in motion as early as the mid-1990s. Since 2002, despite the gag orders and attacks, I have been talking about: Central Asia & the Caucasus. I have been talking about our operations-grooming our very own terrorists in that region. I have been talking about Chechnya. They're interviewing Robert Duffy the SON of the people that own the boat the guy was in. It sounds EXTREMELY SCRIPTED. His stepfather just happened to go look inside the boat. This is just more stink in my book.

Did anyone else catch that one of the brothers became a US citizen on Sept 11? I believe the year was 2012 but I only caught it out of the corner of my eye so I can't say for sure. My internet connection isn't working very well otherwise I would look it up.

If so, most plastics are transparent to IR both in the SW (3-5 micron) and LW (7-14 micron), so you see right through it with the imager. It has happened to me many times. In fact I have had to buy special filters so I do NOT see through plastics.
The only thing suspicious is that we see him through what kind of looks like a side boat window too (though I suspect it is a rope, and there is no side window, though looking at zero hedge it is not clear). If the window is plastic, ok. If it is glass, this would not work. Glass is opaque in SW and LW (for instance see: How To Block IR Infrared Thermal Imaging ).
I found this picture here showing a view looking through the glass window. Note there is no thermal signature.

BTW Midnight Rambler- I am not saying the facts you present are wrong. I think FLIR started as a company with some of those old aircraft mounted forward looking infrared imagers. I just disagree with your conclusion, because I deal with plastics and IR. At first I thought the boat was covered with a canvas tarp, which may still show a signal, but not as clear, but once I figured out it was a plastic cover, then I felt it was feasible. This is one reason I mention IR sensors on my UAV forum.
