I just went to opt out of the child tax credit thing. So I can't use my old user id or email, says it is not in the system.

So I need to create a new id.me account.

They ask for an email addy and password to send you a 6 digit code.

Enter the code and go to the next steps. They want a picture of your passport photo page or driver license. Reluctantly I took a pic of my license and uploaded it, now they want the back! Okay what the fvck ever, I did. Click next and it says it is looking to confirm my identity... From what?

Next step they want a selfie from my phone or web cam.

STOP!

I haven't even entered my name, SS# DOB nothing! Surfed the web a bit and read if you file jointly your spouse needs to do the same shyt!

I can go to irs.gov and get my refund status with SS# how I filed and refund amount. That's it.

WTF is this BS positive ID to opt out of the child tax refund? It's a complete different system. No phone numbers to call, nothing. Something real funny going on with this.

This was only step 2 of 5 or 6. They also sent an email of my IP, browser, operating system.

What VPN works with XP still? I'm getting creeped out.
