Lever actions for self defense

I have several lever guns and I like them. With a loading gate on the side and an ammo belt or more ammunition in your pocket you can top them up as you shoot. My Henry's aren't as easy to top up with their tube magazines but they can still be topped up pretty quickly. I have cartridge holders on the stocks of several of my rifles both bolt action and lever that hold 9 rounds. These guys make some good points when it comes to self defense guns. A lever gun along with a pistol or revolver, I believe would be a pretty good combination.

The pre-1964 Winchesters are too pricey so I think the Marlin 336 is the best bet. Mergers and buy outs ruin firearms companies and the guns they manufacture. Marlin got bought out too, about 15 years ago and the pre-Feinberg (yes Jews are the ones who buy them out) Marlin is usually better quality, but a lot easier to find and cheaper to buy than a pre 1965 Winchester, and the don't kick as bad in 30-30. I've had a couple of post merger Winchesters in 30-30 and they were OK for the price. The actions are not terribly smooth, though.

The rear sights on these rifles are not great for old timers, I would rather have a peep sight myself, but they are a huge advantage over a handgun and pretty compact since most have a 20" barrel.

I dig the levers. A .357 magnum is easily handled. I do enjoy the .45-70.

I had to try some of that with my Henry 22 cal. and it's kind of hard on my old hands. The action on my Henry is as smooth as silk and if I had one of the loop levers on it I believe that could pretty easily be done.

I have a Henry .22 with the Octagon barrel. Nice rifle.
We also have a 16" Rossi 92 Trapper in .357. The stock is a little short for me but fits my wife like a glove and she loves shooting it.
.357 out of a rifle really packs a wallop and the recoil is mild. I think it's a great home defense platform.

I've got a Henry Big boy in .44 magnum like the one in this video and it's fun to shoot too.

I'm an original Marlin fan when it comes to lever guns but i own some Henry's too.

The Marlins have a smoother action than any Winchester lever i have shot.

Hard to beat a 30 caliber rifle for self defense, w/e you hit will have a hard time getting back up.

One of these stiknshoot lights is a pretty nice addition to a lever gun too. I've got a couple of them and they really brighten up the sights and what ever I'm pointing my 45-70 at. They're pretty pricey but they are well done and put out a lot of light.
