I wonder if the people of Baltimore realize how lucky they are tonight? Their city is about to be rehabilitated/redeveloped. Now that the spotlight is on them, I believe Baltimore will become a test case on how to rehabilitate a rat infested mess of a city. I don't believe Democrats, congress, the government/Trump and the city can walk away from their plight, like it's back to business as usual.
IMO, this is going to have a very happy ending for Trump, no matter who fixes the city, Trump will get the credit. Good timing too, with elections moving into full swing.

Trump will get bonus points if people in the Baltimore city government are caught and prosecuted for stealing the $9 billion from Obama and the $16 billion from the Trump government that was supposed to go to the people of Baltimore.

Scrutiny deepens of charity run by wife of Elijah Cummings as it stonewalls records requests

A charity run by the wife of House Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings has not responded to media requests to view its public tax records, even as new questions have emerged about the group’s finances.

Maya Rockeymoore’s charity paid over $250,000 in “management fees” to her own for-profit consulting firm between 2013 and 2015, according to audited financial reports for the foundation published by the Daily Caller on Thursday. The payments were made by Rockeymoore’s foundation, the Center for Global Policy Solutions, to her consulting firm, Global Policy Solutions. The two entities also had a cost-sharing agreement in which the foundation covered its own expenses related to any joint projects.

IRS law prohibits insiders at nonprofit groups from self-dealing, or using foundation money for their own personal financial benefit. Tax records of nonprofit charities such as Rockeymoore's are public and are supposed to be made available for viewing.

News of the payments, which experts said raise legal questions about self-dealing at the charity, came after the Washington Examiner reported that Rockeymoore’s foundation had received millions of dollars from corporations and special interest groups with business before her husband’s committee. Cummings, 68, a Maryland Democrat, is chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. Rockeymoore, 48, is the chairman of the Maryland Democratic Party and briefly ran in the state's gubernatorial race last year.

The National Legal and Policy Center, a government watchdog group that has been extensively investigating Rockeymoore’s foundation and for-profit consulting company, filed a complaint with the IRS in May detailing evidence of potential self-dealing at the charity. According to the complaint, Global Policy Solutions and the Center for Global Policy Solutions appeared to have overlapping operations, and the arrangement may have been used to derive “illegal private benefit.” The complaint asked the IRS to investigate the “shared leadership,” “integrated operations,” and “shared address and physical facilities” of her two companies. Rockeymoore’s nonprofit group and the LLC have mutual clients, donors and projects, and were located at the same address and share a phone number.

If both groups were involved in managing the project, “the arrangement is ‘self-dealing’ and cannot be ‘arms length’” as required by IRS law and “prompt the question of whether its organizers are getting fat off the grants,” according to the National Legal and Policy Center’s complaint.

Global Policy Solutions received more than $6.2 million in grants between 2013 and 2016, according to tax records. Several of the nonprofit group’s financial backers, which included Google, J.P Morgan, and Prudential, have business interests before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. Cummings has served as Democratic chairman of the committee since January and previously served as ranking member. Tom Anderson, director of the National Legal and Policy Center’s Government Integrity Project, called the arrangement a “serious problem.”

“When a powerful chairman of a committee of the House of Representatives has a wife that is bringing in money from entities with interests before his Committee and she is not providing the transparency mandated by the IRS, there's a serious problem,” said Anderson. “The potential for corruption in this situation is simply off the charts and can't be understated. We hope Chairman Cummings works with his wife to end the stonewalling and provide the public with what's legally mandated all charities provide.”

Rockeymoore did not respond to a request for comment or a request to view her foundation’s latest public financial reports. A doorman at the charity’s listed business address said Rockeymoore had moved out of the office building over a year ago and did not leave a forwarding address. He said the building has continued to get her companies’ mail.

Rockeymoore has declined to turn over her foundation’s latest IRS public financial reports, a form 990, to the Washington Examiner and other media outlets. The National Legal and Policy Center said Rockeymoore hung up on the group’s chairman when he requested a copy of the form by phone.

A spokesperson for Cummings did not respond to a request for comment. The Office of Congressional Ethics, which investigates potential ethical violations by members of congress, said it could not comment on whether it is examining the matter.
