On Sept. 24, 2019, Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced the official impeachment inquiry that would be led by the Intelligence Committee and Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.). At first, this was a curious decision to objective persons, since the Judiciary Committee has the authority over this type of procedure. At the time, Pelosi indicated a threat by President Donald Trump to our national security during the July 25 conversation between him and President Zelensky of Ukraine. She did this without the benefit of the transcript, but she doubtless already knew much of the CIA "whistleblower's" complaint. Further, theUkrainian president disputes her version.

But this is not the rationale for her haste to convene the investigation. It appears that the D.C. swamp benefits another powerful family. The Biden family has gotten special treatment from Ukrainian oil interests, and the Pelosi family has a similar advantage. Paul Pelosi, Jr. was a board member of Viscoil and an executive at its related company NRGLab, which was involved in energy business in Ukraine. Perhaps the use of the Intelligence Committee has given the Democrats the opportunity to limit Republican questioning and maintain secrecy over the responses from subpoenaed witnesses. This would prevent any official record implicating Pelosi's son. This also explains her reluctance to take a vote authorizing the investigation, since the minority party would gain some rights.

This is interesting also since much of the Democratic Party rejects carbon-based energy sources. Biden has made this a part of his campaign. The Green New Deal proposals will eventually end dependency on oil and gas as an energy source. But this does not stop these politicos from benefiting financially from this sector of the economy. This reminds one of the financial benefits that Al Gore's father had from Occidental Petroleum, which was one of the great polluters (remember Love Canal?). He chose to make money selling carbon offsets to atone and make his own name.

The Ukrainian oil company Burisma used many well connected members of the D.C. establishment connected to the Obama administration. This interlocking swamp is a threat to the USA. But the media have managed to convince a vast number of Americans that Trump is the threat. When Trump railed against Pelosi in Louisiana on Friday, he was accusing her of not just splitting the nation politically, but also ignoring the financial benefits to powerful families at the detriment of our national security. This also helps explain the constant discussion in public about Biden's son Hunter, in addition to the political advantage he might gain.

No wonder the establishment (including many Republicans) wants to impeach Trump. Family security always "trumps" national security in the D.C. swamp.

I tried to explain to my son how government regulations here would always endup benefiting Big Oil and why they are financing it also.

Washington(CNN) Former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has a new assessment of President Donald Trump as "a very, very smart man" who won't be easy for Democrats to defeat in the 2020 election.

"I used to think that Donald Trump was not too smart. I certainly don't believe that anymore," Reid, a Nevada Democrat who served in Congress for decades until his retirement in 2016, told "Axe Files" host David Axelrod in an interview airing Saturday at 7 p.m. ET on CNN.

The former Democratic leader had criticized Trump in harsh and colorful terms, calling him a "spoiled brat," "a con artist" and a "human leech who will bleed the country" in comments on the Senate floor in 2016.

But Reid -- a savvy political operator whose moves to reshape Senate procedures, like his elimination of filibusters for most nominations by presidents, were criticized by Republicans during his time in Congress -- acknowledged in the interview Trump's strategy in discrediting Democrats leading the impeachment inquiry into his actions with Ukraine.

"I don't think he's, intellectually, a powerhouse but he is basically a very, very smart man. No matter what the subject, any argument he involves himself in, it's on his terms. You're always arguing against him. He never, never, is willing to debate an issue on terms that aren't his," Reid told Axelrod.

Asked how he would advise a candidate running against Trump, Reid warned, "Anyone that thinks Trump's going to be beaten easily should have another thing coming."

Reid also argued that the "evidence is very clear" that Trump was withholding foreign aid as leverage to pressure Ukraine, on a July phone call, to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden. Trump has denied any wrongdoing and has claimed the foreign aid was withheld so European allies could contribute their fair share. Democrats have accused Trump of a quid pro quo and abusing his power of office.

"All you have to do is have a basic understanding ofwhat the law in America:You can't do what he did and go unpunished," Reid said.

As Democrats have launched an impeachment inquiry into Trump, Republicans have either defended the President's actions or sidestepped the question whether it's appropriate that Trump asked a foreign government to investigate his political opponent.

Reid said he's "disappointed" in what the Senate has become, mainly criticizing his former Senate Republican colleagues for not speaking out.
"And we have these Republicans who are afraid to speak out against things that he does that are absolutely wrong and they know they're wrong," Reid said. "The only person we've gotten to say anything is Mitt Romney, and (Ben) Sasse has said something out of Nebraska. Other than that, they don't say anything."

He chided Sen. Lindsey Graham for his changed views of the President, going from one of Trump's most vehement critics to one of his most vociferous defenders. The South Carolina Republican was close friends with the late Sen. John McCain, an Arizona Republican, who had a contentious relationship with Trump.

"It's amazing what happened to him when John McCain died," Reid said of Graham. "He suddenly was no longer a John McCain Republican. He became a South-Carolina-I-want-to-get-reelected Republican, and he is a tote and fetch guy for the President."

He added, "I had such admiration for him. I'm so disappointed in what has happened to him. His whole personality has changed since John passed."

They always end with this, but I have not seen evidence anywhere else and have a basic understanding of U.S. law.

Local press: $6 million record bribe: details of high-profile detention

The first deputy head of the Kiev tax Nikolay Ilyashenko tried to bribe the leadership of NABU and SAP for closing criminal proceedings against the largest Ukrainian gas producing private company Burisma, which was owned by former Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Nikolai Zlochevsky, writes Obozrevatel.

This was announced on Facebook by journalist Yuri Butusov. According to him, among the detainees Ilyashenko himself and Andrei Kicha, director of legal affairs at Burisma.

This evening Ukrainian investigators seized $6 million in cash and arrests were made in an alleged bribe to Ukrainian prosecutors to halt investigations into the Burisma group of companies and involvement with Hunter Biden, the son of Democrat Presidential Candidate Joe Biden, CDMedia has learned. The bribes were allegedly to the Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Office of the Special Prosecutor (SAP). This information was posted on official NABU social media. We are told the operation had been under way for 2 weeks and is still ongoing. The images are two hours old.

NABU Director Artem Sytnyk last year was caught bragging on tape how he had helped the Clinton campaign against Trump in 2016 by released the faked ‘black ledger’ against Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort.

Press reports describe how an official of the previous Poroshenko government, which was tied to the Hillary Clinton campaign in 2016, tried to give the bribe. Reports are the person behind the act is Nikolai Zlochevsky, the owner of Burisma. The man arrested allegedly was his right hand in the Ukrainian government – a former high-level official in the Department of Financial Services of Kyiv.

A bribe was allegedly given for making a decision to close the case against an official who had previously been suspected under part 5 of article 191, part 3 of article 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Seized 6 million dollars, read local press reports.

The case mentions a representative of Zlochevsky by the name of Kich.

At 18.40, Nabu blocked two cars at the exit from the parking of the traffic police in Kyiv, one of the cars belongs to Nikolai Viktorovich Ilyashenko, deputy chief of the traffic police.
