I just watched the tail end of Laura Ingraham and she seemed to suggest that Trump/McConnell could actually get try to get the nomination done quickly(for some reason, I thought they would have to wait until after)

They could do it before November 3rd, but they could also wait and do it before January 20th when all the seats change.
So they can actually confirm a new justice after the election.
Imagine if the election is FUBAR, and there are half a dozen cases pending the supreme court to decide who the next president is, and Trump nominates someone in the middle of that.
