Excellent interview. G. Edward Griffin evinces a deep sadness about the seeming inevitable downfall of man. If I might channel him, I think he would say that mankind's downfall is rooted in our turning away from God and embracing moral-ethical rot and arrogant ignorance. He never mentions God; but he is a Godly man.
