With used car prices at all time highs, I am beginning to see many older vehicles that have been sitting around, out in front yards for sale. Old rusty trucks are selling for thousands. I also note that the used car ads in the want ads in the paper, seem to be almost non-existent. What does this mean? Low inventory? The want ads are almost all dealers these days; I believe the private sellers are mainly using online sites to advertise or other methods.
The 'Stealership' I bought my newer truck from, sent me a card saying they want to buy my truck back. I has almost 70,000 on it now and they still are offering about $7000 less than I paid for it. Not sure if they will only do this for a trade in, but if so, where do they plan on getting a new truck to sell me? They have very little on the lot.

Just got rid of my 2019 Honda Ridgeline. It had 57,000 miles, a damaged front panel from a deer strike and a cracked windshield and brought just shy of 30k.
Car lots in NC are getting sparse. They look like they have about 1/3 of what they normally have.
I believe dealers in rust belt states are buying them up for their inventory.
A friend in Ohio sees a lot near him that has a sign "we have NC cars".
Cars don't rust here.

Certainly seems to be going down that path for sure. I ended up buying a "new" used car last year, traded in my BMW for a domestic. Mostly due to cheaper maintenance and fuel. It's a 2014, so has a lot of the electronics, plastics and chips that are currently out of supply right now. Its a good car, fun to drive, but as with all vehicles they do eventually break down. My main concern is repair parts and whats going to happen with those as times goes on.
