Is the Pope Catholic ? Traditional priest explains sedevacantism

Is the Pope Catholic? No. He is therefore not the Pope.

    Father Gabriel Lavery explains

sede vacante is Latin for the Chair (of Peter) is vacant.

Re: Is the Pope Catholic ? Traditional priest explains sedevacantism

I find the controversies related to "sedevacantism" very very interesting and I have read and watched many articles, books and videos on this subject.
I am not qualified to debate this subject because I had no relgiion training beyond high school

However, I still consider myself a Catholic and I try to learn more about my faith every day.

I feel it is necessary to mention that the word "sedvacantism" did not come into use until the 1980s or so. I think Father Cekada mentioned that in his "aunt Helen" video on YouTube.

Father Cekada and Bishop Donald Sanborn and Bishop Dolan are one branch of this sedevacantism traditional Catholicism and I have posted many videos of these priests who operate their seminary and school in Brooksville Florida. That operation will continue but a new building is being prepared to house the seminary part of this group, in Reading Pennsylvania. This seminary has a YouTube channel and a website mostholytrinityseminary.org and Bishop Sanborn has a blog site too but I do not have the link right now. Novus Ordo Watch novusordowatch.org is a site that is wholly in support of Bishop Sanborn and so is truerestoration.org I have learned very much from all of these people and websites.

Here is a podcast of the most recent NovusOrdoWatch Tradcast where the commentator who remains anonymous talks about Michael Voris and his stance about Bergoglio being "Pope Francis".

Father Jenkins in another branch of traditional Catholicism and I have posted many good videos by Father Jenkins and even the early days with Father Kelly who is now the Bishop of Father Jenkin's St. Pius V order centered in Roundtop, New York with priests in Norwood Ohio and other places around the country. Father Jenkins website is WCBohio.com and he does have a YouTube channel that is about to close down because of heavy censorship by YouTube. WCBohio is the interim site to find latest videos.

Those two "branches" of the traditional priests are what I consider to be the main ones but there are others.

The Catholics who object to the whole idea of "sedevacantism" or anything that in practice looks like sedevacantism are often referred to as "novus ordo" Catholics and these make up all the dwindling regular dioceses and parishes in operation today around the USA and the world.

Then there are the St. Pius X priests that is headquartered in St. Marys Kansas. These are a big "branch" of tranditional priests that were started by Archbishop Marcelle Levevre. They are traditional in many ways but they want to be recognized by Bergoglio or "Pope Francis." They are referred to as one of the "Recognize and Resist" groups. Recognize Francis as pope but, asside from a few recognitions in the local parish Society of St. Pius V ( SSPV) churches, otherwise ignore him. I often use the Douay Rheims bible translation prepared by the SSPV. drbo.org

Another well known "Catholic" source I often share on this forum short videos called "The Vortex by Michael Voris" of churchmilitant.com and their YouTube channel. This is I guess categorized as a Recognize and Resist group. They are in valid standing with the local diocese of Detroit Michigan I think. This group has made many great videos to educate me in the Catholic faith. They have increasingly spoken out against Bergoglio and the bishops but they still call Bergoglio "pope." This Church Militant "apostolate" is heavily reporting on the pedophilia / pederasty scandal in the church and they are helping and defending the good priests who were dismissed from using their faculties in the parish churches because they were preaching and teaching true Catholic doctrine from the pulpit and in the schools. These priests were "kicked out" by the bad "bishops."

Anyway, I subscribe mainly to Bishop Donald Sanborn and True Restoration and Novus Ordo Watch "branch" mainly.

    E. Michael Jones and others that I post on this forum are Novus Ordo and they seem to say people like me are in "schism."

I believe the true Catholic church is still alive and will be until Christ returns and there may be many others who are in schism to it.

But I do not know about all that very much. I just want to follow Christ in the most true path I can.

I have also watched and read and listened to many Protestants and have learned much from them too but I just am now and will always believe that the Catholic church is one, holy, catholic, and apostolic and it is the church that Jesus referred to as "my church".

    Mathew 16:18 Douay-Rheims Bible

And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it
    .

Just thought I would try to explain all of this chaos within discussions of "the Catholic Church" and "sedevacantism."

I am about 600 miles from the nearest true traditional sacrifice of the mass, so I do not go to church anymore.
