HELP!!! Long-neck lighters (for BBQ, Etc.)

    OK everyone,
You know those "long reach" lighters with the 6" or so neck and a trigger like on a gun? The ones you use for lighting stove pilots, BBQ's, etc.?

I'm looking for a RELIABLE one that lights EVERY DAMNED TIME you press the trigger, not one that you go "click click click click click grrrrr!!! click click" before it finally lights. I'd like to lay in a storage of 30 or 40 of them, but I'm SO tired of the typical P.O.S. ones that you spend more time clicking than lighting things with. In otherwords, I'm looking for the "BIC Lighter" of the long-reach lighter world!

Also, I don't care if it's refillable or not.

    Any suggestions?

I hate to tell you this, Gaillo, but what you seek does not exist. I have bought every single one of those things, and still with the click click click frustrations.

When you find one, let me know.

The best one I have used is made by Bic and is blue. It lasted forever and a day too. I went and bought 5 of them.

For long term storage and SHTF use, though, I'd recommend the long matches made for lighting fireplaces and grills.

I bought one of the long-neck clickety-click ones at wally-world, it doesn't last as long as say a regular bic, but it was only one peso

This isn't what I bought but here's one by Coleman (RIP)

I bought the Bic ones at Ace Hardware (I think), they work like a charm.

As fate would have it, I went to a friend's house this evening, and they had one that worked every single time!

It's a BernzOmatic flexible stem gas lighter. I don't know if they all work this beautifully, but it's at least a lead. I looked them up and they're really pricey, but they are refillable.

Buy one of those mapp gas cans with a torch on it like they use for soldering. Home depot or Lowes, they work like a charm ! About $ 40.00 and they will last a long time.

Well, I bought a Bic barbecue lighter once and it wouldn't light at all. Fortunately I had my pocket lighter with me, so we didn't have to eat cold food. Whatever brand you get, be sure they work before you leave town!
