At least Jimmy Carter was smart enough not to get any airtime in that spoof. When I think of Reagan, my thoughts usually go back to what a great salesman he was, pitching "the window of vulnerability" was no easy task and even though his press secretary couldn't say it with a straight face, he pimped it along and for the most part the people ate it up as gospel.

“Democracy is also a form of worship. It is the worship of Jackals by Jackasses. It is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.”
    H.L. Mencken

"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary."
    H. L. Mencken
