Anyone have a favorite squirrel recipe you'd like to recommend?
I was thinking of this recipe, bacon wrapped squirrel. This will be my first time cooking and eating squirrels.

Look for rabbit recipes and substitute it. I've never cooked squirrel sadly so can't comment.
These little guys are small. I've got 3 of them and that should make only one meal, probably the same amount of meat as one small bunny. I've read you can wrap the whole squirrel in bacon and it's supposed to come out pretty tasty. I think I'll do that tomorrow, instead of turkey on t-day I'll try squirrel.
Stew them, carrots, onions,,taters, etc! Batter the meat with flour!

With the whole squirrel, or do I cut off the meat, backstap, etc before making the stew? I've been told all the little bones take away from the enjoyment of the meal, with a stew.
Basically, I've got 3 fresh squirrels in the freezer. I shot the little bastards, so feel obligated to eat them at least.

I dont know Hitch ..... from what I have learned they might give you some kind of weird disease unless you talk to a old timer who has knowledge about it .
The harder I work, the Luckier I get!
I have friends who eat squirrel and like it. They only cook the hind quarters. Not much meat on them. Zap is right, they can carry disease, so cook well. I've gone out to hunt them, (there are a lot around here) but I never had the heart to shoot the little bastards because they are so small. Nothing wrong with shooting and eating them, I am just a whimp.
