Often times the engine has to be lifted out of the car for the mechanic to be able to reach whatever needs to be replaced/repaired, space has been reduced...

A layman doesn’t have the equipment for these types of repairs. And then of course if you repair or even change the oil in your 3-5 year old car yourself you void the warranty.

Try changing the back 2 plugs in a 6cyl Grand Am. You have to unbolt the motor mounts and jack the engine up.... albeit putting stress on the real main seals because of the "bend" Oh... and all too often, the heat has them hopelessly frozen in place anyway..... Good times..... good times...

Getting your hand in there is the biggest challenge. Then manipulating the locking ring or similar, without it breaking (being plastic subject to the heat of the engine, of course).
