I ordered a go-pro clone, 2 years ago-ish (not a akaso) and it was so horrible I threw it away and bought a go-pro.

Some Chinese companies know what they are doing, and are devastating American companies that market Chinese-made products.
Anker is a great example. Anker has sunk outfits like Belkin for mobile accessories.
Advertising budgets add major overhead to American brand-names.
As for this Akaso camera, I can't tell. amazon is chock-full of payola "I received this at a discount for a 'fair and honest' review" postings, almost all five-star.
What I generally do is compare the negative reviews:

sjcam are good for the money. I reviewed an M10 in the prep subforum - crap Glass bought or something like that. Unit is still working. Been superceeded by better models with higher res and more features.
sjcam has 2 new models out. 1 is called Legend and the other I cant remember but came out at same time.
There are many fake sjcams out there. Some have model numbers that were never made by SJcam such as the 7000. Recommend buying from a recognized dealer.
Check out YT for comparos. I think I saw a recent one by yaminoob or yamminoob. Something like that. Gave it good raps. I will be grabbing one of these newer models in a couple months.
