Alaska police surround Fairbanks home of leader of militia Sovereign Citizen Movement
BREAKING NEWS: Police surround Cox residence
Law enforcement officers have blocked an intersection near the home of a Fairbanks militia leader.
There are few details available, but Fairbanks police chief Loren Zager says the operation involves the Sovereign Citizen Movement and "multiple police actions."
An arrest warrant for a militia leader, Schaeffer Cox, was issued last month when he failed to show up for a court appearance on a weapons charge.
According to reports, an Alaska State Trooper carrying a rifle blocked off an intersection near Cox's listed address Thursday afternoon.
Alaska State Troopers are participating in a multi-jurisdictional operation in the Fairbanks area. An agency spokeswoman told the Associated Press there were no other immediate details.
