The only authority the Constitution granted Congress regarding gun control is in Article I §8 Clause 16. Pursuant to the Constitution Congress passed the Militia Act of 1792. Otherwise the right of the people to keep and bear arms SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED. But since the Constitution is shredded we see all manner of gun control laws trotted out. Also the Constitution only grants Congress lawmaking power in Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, insular possessions, military bases and U.S. Court Houses and Post Offices.
The only thing declared necessary in the Constitution & Bill of Rights is the #2A Militia of the several States.
