    Perth Mint Bird of Paradise

Picked up a one ounce Gold and a roll of 20 silver ounces last week. Nice looking coin with a manageable premium for the gold ($70 over). The silver was $11 over which is pricey, but the swan and emu releases both had the same premium and have done well in the "semi-numi" arena. I am contemplating having the gold one...and possibly some of the silver graded and slabed. haven't decided yet. As an aside, they had 'roos at $2 over at the same time, so I added a roll of those as well.

from what i've seen on the perth stuff the silver outperforms the gold on a percentage over premium basis

Perth does make really high quality coins, but I've never really been into the animal themed bullion.

Back when silver hit the 40's I sold a series 1 lunar set fro $1,100 buy it now. They still command around $800. The Series 2 set will be complete this October, I managed to piece together 5 sets, albeit a bit late, but I still expect a nice bump when collectors start looking for complete sets.

Some of them are really sweet looking, but my favorite is still old Morgan's and the Prospector rounds.

Gold coins are more liquid than gold bars, as they are not just an object of investment, but also an object of collecting. Such investments are long-term and will not be able to rely on instant profit.
