There are at least two postings in this thread about the National Lab level 4 in Galveston, TX, that is part of the University of Texas Medical Branch.
There is no oversight and enforcement of laws and regulations regarding these laboratories. The GAO-identified kinds of violations and deficiencies at the CDC, FDA, NIH, and HHS, that is, political interference with science, are probably happening at these USA biological research laboratories. We have no idea whether gain-of-function research was conducted at these labs.
