Harry Reid Plots Federal Land Grab Near Bundy Ranch

Senate Minority Leader is reportedly hoping the federal government—specifically President Barack Obama’s administration—will grab a stretch of land in Southern Nevada near the infamous Bundy Ranch, now that many in the Bundy group are in federal custody.

“The reason that the President hasn’t had an opportunity to look at that very closely is that is where the Bundy family raised the hell that they did. Now most of them are in jail so maybe we can move forward on that,” Reid said, according to a Nevada political observer, Jon Ralston.

Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy, his sons Ammon and Ryan, and several supporters, are facing federal charges stemming from two standoffs with the federal government.


In the first standoff, the Bundy family used the support of several militia groups to prevent the federal government from seizing cattle to help pay a debt of nearly one million dollars in unpaid grazing fees.


Emboldened after stopping the feds from seizing the cattle in Nevada, a group led by Ammon Bundy took over the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon. That standoff ended with the death of Lavoy Finicum and the arrest of both Ammon and Ryan Bundy. Cliven Bundy was arrested soon after in the Portland airport while trying to join the Oregon occupation.


Senator Reid appears to be attacking the Bundy family and their supporters, who he previously called “domestic, violent terrorist wannabes” while adding to his legacy.

Deadbeat rancher Cliven Bundy has long been criticized for the “management” of his herd of cattle. The Justice Department noted that his hands-off approach to the herd was borderline cruelty:

The Justice Department describes Bundy’s ranching operation as negligent to the point of cruelty in sending half-wild cattle to graze illegally on protected lands without supervision. Unvaccinated and susceptible to illness, the cattle have little contact with humans and Bundy often has no idea where they are, the government said.

The cattle were left out during harsh winters, according to the Justice Department memo, their lives coming down to “fighting off predators and scrounging for the meager amounts of food and water available in the difficult and arid terrain that comprises the public lands” in the Nevada desert.

With winter behind us and the calendar well into the spring months, Bundy’s cows are still roaming the Nevada desert. Untreated, unvaccinated and with very little food or water. Due to Bundy’s negligent “management” over time, the herd has grown from 150 cattle to an estimated 1,000 cattle. And many are apparently slowly starving to death in the Nevada desert.

I think you're right Mick about this being a hit piece on the Bundy ranch. The person that wrote the article sounds to me like an educated dumb ass that doesn't know as much about cows, horses, cowboys and ranching as they think they do.

Cows can get in poor condition like the one in the photo for different reasons and I've seen plenty of them in the same shape as the one in the photo and it's not always lack of feed. If all the cattle were in the shape the one in the photo is the cattle numbers wouldn't be increasing. That's proof right there from right in the article that the writer is full of bullshit and doesn't know what they're talking about.

Most of the comments following that article were from a bunch of dumb asses that don't know what they're talking about either.
