Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has tested positive for COVID-19, according to an Aug. 17 statement from the Office of the Governor.

"Governor Abbott is fully vaccinated against COVID-19, in good health, and currently experiencing no symptoms. Everyone that the Governor has been in close contact with today has been notified," Communications Director Mark Miner said in a press release.

Abbott has been tested daily for the virus, according to his office, and tested positive for the first time today. His wife Cecilia Abbott tested negative.

Abbott is isolating in the governor's mansion and will continue to test for the virus daily. He is also receiving monoclonal antibody treatment. The Texas Division of Emergency Management has relaunched monoclonal antibody infusion centers in several areas of the state this month, including one in Austin, which opened Aug. 16. In an Aug. 13 announcement from the governor's office, patients at the infusion centers have to meet certain criteria and must be referred by a doctor.

Breakthrough cases in vaccinated individuals such as Abbott are thought to be relatively rare, and are usually accompanied by mild symptoms or none at all. In Travis County, for instance, Austin Public Health data shows 0.037% of the county's fully vaccinated individuals have reported becoming infected with COVID-19, with most of those infections occurring in July and August, since the delta variant began circulating in the area. The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention has reported coronavirus vaccines authorized in the United States are effective against the delta variant, but some breakthrough cases will occur.

I find it curious that he is being TREATED with monoclonal antibodies when he has no diagnosis and no symptoms and the pcr test he took and takes daily, before during and after "vaccination", is a meaningless health indicator, and the total crap shoot fake vaccine he took most likely has permanently destroyed his natural immune system's anti-bodies for any kind of bioweapon or naturally occurring antigen.

I am not ruling out that this news that my state's honorable chief host organism is part of another political, strategically timed trick.

Texas requests five mortuary trailers in anticipation of Covid deaths

The state’s seven-day average of coronavirus deaths is at its highest since March 2021.

ith Covid-19 surging across the state, Texas has requested five mortuary trailers from the federal government in anticipation of an influx of dead bodies, state officials told NBC News.

The mortuary trailers from the Federal Emergency Management Agency will be stationed in San Antonio and sent around the state at the request of local officials.

Department of State Health Services spokesperson Doug Loveday said the trailers were requested Aug. 4 after officials reviewed data about increasing deaths as a third wave of the coronavirus struck the state.

"We are anticipating a need within the state of Texas for these trailers as Covid cases and hospitalizations continue to increase," Loveday said.

Chris Van Deusen, a spokesperson for the same agency, said the request was made as a precaution.

"We haven't gotten any local requests, but we want to be ready with the Covid cases in the state," Van Deusen said. "We didn't want to wait."

Bruce Davidson, a spokesperson for San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg, was not aware of the request but said it "makes sense," adding: "Deaths are starting to mount for sure."

A FEMA spokesperson said three mortuary trailers are expected to arrive on Friday, with the final two slated to reach Texas on Saturday.

“FEMA and HHS continue to work closely with the state of Texas to provide needed resources," the spokesperson said.

Texas recorded 144 deaths Saturday, according to the latest available data. Over the last seven days, deaths averaged 80 a day in Texas, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The last time Texas' seven-day average of Covid deaths was that high was March 16, 2021.

Gov. Greg Abbott's office did not respond to a request for comment about the need for mortuary trailers.

On Friday, Abbott announced nine new centers statewide where Covid patients could obtain monoclonal antibody infusions. The therapeutic drugs made by Regeneron have been shown to prevent hospitalization among less severe Covid cases if given within 10 days of the onset of symptoms.

Abbott issued an executive order banning vaccination and mask mandates July 29 as cases rose in the state. The order was challenged and recently upheld by the state Supreme Court.

Governors who ban school mask mandates could face legal action from the federal government, President Joe Biden warned on Aug. 18.

Biden stated that he was directing Education Secretary Miguel Cardona “to take additional steps to protect our children.”

“This includes using his oversight authority and legal action, if appropriate, against governors trying to block and intimidate local school officials and educators,” Biden said in remarks at the White House. “We’re not going to sit by as governors try to block and intimidate educators protecting our children.”

As an example, he said the federal government may use money from the American Rescue Plan to pay an educator who has their salary cut by a governor.

“I am going to say a lot more about children in schools next week that as we head into the school year remember this, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the CDC, says masks are critical, especially for those not yet vaccinated, like our children under the age of 12,” Biden said. “So let’s put politics aside. Let’s follow the educators and scientists, who know a lot more about how to teach our children and keep them safe than any politician. This administration is always going to take the side of our children.”

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott are among the governors who have banned school mask mandates. DeSantis has also moved to reduce funding equal to the pay of some education officials for school districts that move to force children to wear masks.

As he announced his order last month, DeSantis said that the U.S. government “has no right to tell parents that in order for their kids to attend school in person, they must be forced to wear a mask all day, every day.”

The order says that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) “guidance,” which has been widely adopted, “lacks a well-grounded scientific justification.” It referred to a Brown University Study that found no link between COVID-19 cases and wearing masks in schools.

“Many Florida schoolchildren have suffered under forced masking policies, and it is prudent to protect the ability of parents to make decisions regarding the wearing of masks by their children,” DeSantis said.

After Biden’s threat, Christina Pushaw, press secretary for DeSantis, told The Epoch Times via email that “the forced-maskers often criticize Governor DeSantis for overruling ‘local control’ to protect parents’ freedom to make health and education decisions for their own children.”

“I doubt they will apply the same principle to this blatant federal overreach,” she said. “CDC bureaucrats and their politicized ‘guidance’—which does not have the force of law—shouldn’t interfere with parents’ rights, which are protected under Florida law. Governor DeSantis will continue to stand up for Florida families and defend our rights, no matter what the Biden administration attempts to do.”
