Interesting. I wonder how much the battery pack costs (per whatever kW). Oh, and,

As long as the electrical grid is still powered with natural gas (partially, 'on the margin') it is more efficient to develop natural gas autos. And still one has the additional up front cost and maintenance costs of electric cars.

Of course this is just thermodynamic fact. I'll admit society likes to waste energy on techno-delusions.

As long as good concentrations of mineable lithium and rare earth metals?

    JQP,
Those are PRICEY batteries - I think I paid close to $20 each the last time I bought any...
Even at $10 each, they're using over $80,000 just in batteries for that car!

Sounds expensive, especially considering you need to assemble 8320 of them!

    This is not Sanyo, but:

    $6.50 each for one

I imagine you could get *8000+ for $3-4 each.

It's funny Ponce. I remember watching a video in school when I was a kid in the early '80's The video was made in the mid 70's and was talking about different energy sources and how much was left. They said at the time of the video that there was 25 years left of natural gas. That has always stuck with me for some reason.
