Back to reality, I personally dont feel the Romans were that cruel compared to the Celts,that were their contemporary's. Cruel by today's standards, yes, but so was the 1950's cruel by today's standards. Ireland provided a geographical barrier at the time to the Barbarians that swept across the carcass of Imperial Rome and was a great "vault" for things Western until things calmed.
